Today would have been Pal’s 17th birthday. That being said It’s been a few weeks since Pal passed away. If you’d like to read more about that you can see that post here. It’s interesting how much a pet can change your life.
Pets brighten your day in many ways. I know this to be true. As I mentioned when Pal passed he was the longest pet I ever owned. As a kid, we had dogs so it was a very different experience having a cat. Pal showed up at our door one day and we asked everyone we knew if he’s been lost. No one claimed so a week later he became ours.  I can say this much Pal was fun to have as a pet. He was friendly and loved cuddles. He had many friends in the neighborhood.
It’s a bit odd when you are so set in a routine then suddenly have to break it. Like most pets, Pal had us all well-trained. We knew at around 4 o’clock it was his dinner time. Or when we’d go shopping we’d remember to pick up his favorite food. So it’s still funny to me to buy chicken or seafood and not think I need to buy extra for Pal. But I guess our pets become part of the family. You know their likes and dislikes. You also remember to buy them their special treats if they have one.
I would have never guessed that a little gray and white ball of fluff like Pal would become king of the house. But he did. He did give us great joy while he was here. He would make me laugh on many occasions with his silly antics. It was always funny to watch him sit outside in the backyard trying to figure out who was cooking. He’d sniff the air then look back into the house. Even now when I make seafood such as scallops I still expect to feel a paw on my leg.
No matter what type of pet you have they will always bring you great joy and love.
