Recently I posted a question via social media asking if anyone would be interested in blog posts about discount store shopping. Well, a few people replied with a yes. Thanks to everyone who replied. So I figured I’d share some of my tips on what I like to buy at discounts stores. If you’d like a break down of what a discount store is defined as click here. I’ve been a discount store shopper all my life. That being said I’d like to give you all some tips on things I find worth buying at these stores. Just a reminder prices and selection may vary. Some of my favorite stores are the following Target, Burlington Coat Factory, and Marshalls. So let’s get started.

Housewares

I like to pick up housewares at Target because they usually have a great deal. Housewares to me usually mean things like coffeemakers, toaster ovens things of that nature.

Coffeemakers

We go through at least 2 coffee makers a year at my house. Sometimes we buy up to 4 a year. We usually use one for coffee and the other as a teapot. I’ve found that Target usually has a great deal on Coffie makers during certain times of the year. Another place I like to buy coffee makers is BigLots.

I’ve noticed that the coffeemakers go on sale during the holidays or other times of the year.

Toaster ovens

Toaster ovens range in price and features we all know that but like coffeemakers, they go on sale during various times of the year. We’ve had toaster ovens for years. If you have the counter space they are great.

Kitchenware

I often like to pick up my kitchenware at discount stores. You never know what brands you might come across. I like to buy glasses especially during the holidays that seems to be when they have a larger selection.

Drinkware

Again glasses styles and selection may vary but he’s a link to Burlington’s selection. I’ve purchased a few nice sets of Libby glasses from there over the past few years.

Kitchen Accessories

I like to pick up kitchen accessories at discount stores too. Things such as pot holder, chip clips etc. We use them so much that I don’t see a point in paying a  lot for them. Most times I’m able to find quality items for a reasonable price.

As for cookware and items like that you may have to do some homework on that. Most discount stores offer brand name items at a lower price. Some are overstock others may just be a discontinued color in that line. I’ve seen some great bakeware but I don’t usually buy it unless I need it.
