When I first heard about Veggies Made Great I was a bit skeptical. I thought huh how does it taste? Does it have chunks of veggies in it? I happened to see a post online about the Veggies Made Great community. So I signed up.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the brand, Veggies Made Great has a few products that are limited in ingredients and have a veggie or veggies mixed in. When I mean limited in ingredients I mean it. They have products that are gluten, soy, and nut-free. Their products are also allergy-friendly. They also tend to limit the additives from the products I’ve seen so far.

The coupon

A few weeks ago I was sent a coupon from the Veggies Made Great community for a free product. Well, the coupon gave me three options. two were muffins and one was a breakfast food. When I found the products at my local Target store I found that they had the Double Chocolate Muffins. I figured I’d give those a try.

Product overview

As you can see from the slide show above the muffins are a decent size. They come sealed in a plastic bag. There are 6 to a box.

The back of the box shows you the ingredients.

Here’s the list sourced from Veggies Made Great

ZUCCHINI, CARROTS, SUGAR, EGG WHITES, WHOLE EGGS, COCOA POWDER, SEMI-SWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS (ORGANIC CANE SUGAR, UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE, COCOA BUTTER), CORN STARCH, BROWN
RICE FLOUR, SORGHUM FLOUR, LEAVENING (BAKING POWDER), POTATO STARCH, FLAXSEED MEAL, CANOLA OIL, SOLUBLE CORN FIBER, SALT.

CONTAINS: EGG
GLUTEN FREE, SOY FREE, PEANUT & TREE NUT FREE

Heating info

To heat the muffins you can leave them in the bag and heat them in the microwave.

Here’s the info again from Veggies Made Great.

MICROWAVE (RECOMMENDED)
Pop in the microwave to get that freshly-baked taste!

IF DEFROSTED: Heat muffin in bag on high for approximately 10 seconds.

IF FROZEN: Heat muffin in bag on high for approximately 35 seconds.

CAUTION: BAG WILL BE HOT!
Microwave times are based on a 1000 watt oven and may vary due to wattage.

DEFROSTING INSTRUCTIONS: Our muffins taste great at room temperature, just defrost muffin at room temp for 4 hours and enjoy!

I heated them on a plate and used a microwave cover over the plate. I heated them frozen for 30 seconds. Since I warmed two up I heated them twice so 30 seconds each. Cooking time may vary due to the fact that everyone’s microwave heat setting may be different.

The taste test

Heated muffin

The muffins shown above were the last two in the box. I can say overall they are very flavorful and rich. They are a bit dense yet they are springy. When they heat through it’s evenly. The muffins didn’t get hard when cooled either.

The chocolate flavor is very noticeable. It’s rich inviting. If you didn’t know there were veggies in it you’d think it was a regular frozen dessert. I can’t say anything but good things about this product. Granted I don’t eat a lot of frozen food but this would be a nice product to have as a treat or snack.
