With everything that’s been happening in the world lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the power of words. In light of recent events, there has been so much going on that I’ve been overwhelmed by it all. It seems like for every one positive response there seems to be a negative one.I don’t know if it’s been my mood lately or the fact that I’m trying to get over a cold but it seems like there have been more negative responses.

I’ve noticed it just in general when being part of different online groups and communities as well. I know everyone has their own voice in terms of writing but sometimes not everyone reads the comment in a tone the original poster intended. For instance, I’m part of a skin care community well I saw a reply to a comment I had posted. The impression I got from the reply was that the poster was a bit upset by my original comment. Basically, I felt that they were shining me on. I chose not to reply because I may have misinterpreted their reply or maybe they felt I was the one shining them on. Who knows but It’s odd to think that everyone will understand your thoughts in the way you’d like to convey them.

Once again this may also depend on your mood or your mindset at the time of reading such comments too. But I think we have all seen posts via various social media platforms that leave you scratching your head. You don’t know if it’s a question, comment, rant or an observation. Either way, you’re left wondering what the person means. I’ve also been called out for generalized comments in the past where people think I point them out directly.  Now those make me laugh. If someone thinks the comment is directed at them so be it. All I can say is I’m sorry if you feel that way.

We all know words can be powerful tools to get our points across to others. Be it a kind thank you note or the complete opposite. Your words have power. Not everyone will take your comment as a joke or share your feelings on a certain topic. That’s a given but I think we can take the time to try to understand what is being said or in this case read. I think we should all think before we type. I’m the first one to say I’m not always very good at that but I’m trying my best.

Let’s try to spread more positivity.
