In today’s digital age it seems like we have become so obsessed with gaining likes or shares or even followers. I’ve noticed this more and more. It seems like everyone is becoming so concentrated on their online persona that they don’t keep sight of the real world.
I’m talking more about just trying to be more courteous when being online. I had a direct message via Instagram this week that got me thinking about this. The sender had asked me to like a picture so they could possibly win a prize. They sent along a screenshot of the image under the picture was a comment. I interpreted the text as being a bit pushy. I thought the sender’s request was a basic like that picture so I can win a prize. No please or would you be nice enough to or etc.
That got me thinking about how we’ve lost sight of using manners. I guess with ourΒ use of the internet our manners are slipping. All I can say is a Please would be nice every now and again. While I’m at it a Thank You would also be a nice gesture as well. Being courteous gets you a long way online and off. It also helps us remember that we shouldn’t feel pressured to follow or like or whatever just so someone can get their way.
