Recurring Dreams: I think I’m losing my mind.

We all dream. From erotic to silly to even downright confusing ones. I think we’ve all woken up at one point to be very baffled or maybe even disappointed. I’ve covered the topic of dreams before. This post basically outlines the topic for today. I think as I’ve gotten older my dreams have changed as most people’s do. That’s fine and dandy but now I think I’m losing my mind.

Like many of us, I’ve had fantasy dreams. I have a whole binder full of them to be exact. That’s nothing new but now these dreams have evolved to a whole new level. From what I can recall I had this dream back in or around 2005 or 2006. I couldn’t find the original note on it. But it was very surreal. I can still vividly recall the dream to this day.

The dream starts off with me standing in a small kitchen. It looks like maybe it’s a condo or possibly a high-end resort. All I recall is that I’m standing there looking out a patio door. I can see waves crashing on a beach nearby. I suddenly hear a male voice utter something like “I woke up and you weren’t there.” I turn to see who the owner of the voice is. I can’t tell you what his facial features are but I just recall his eyes being very attractive. He was taller then I am too. I’m guessing he’s around average height to around six feet tall. He was lean yet muscular. He was tan with sun highlighted dark brown hair. He was also wearing some baggy pajama pants. The rest of the dream is a bit of a blur but that was what i remember the most.

Fast forward a few years and this dream guy has made his appearance again. I’m guesing I’ve been dreaming him off and on since about 2016. 2017 and 2018 were the most intense years to deal with this dream guy. I’d always had silly family dreams but now it’s becoming a bit more involved. What I mean by this is that they have gone from simple once or twice a month dreams to nearly nightly to nightly.

Also, the dreams have evolved so much that even I wake up a bit surprised. It’s gotten to the point where it’s gone from just a basic dream storyline to a full-on family. I get that part of it is probably my biological clock speaking but still, it’s getting a bit crazy. I was telling my friend recently that these dreams have gotten to the point to where I can tell you what dream guy’s job is. He works in IT by the way. Why that is important I don’t know but it sticks out in my mind. He’s also one of four sons which also sticks with me. I can even tell you the name of my mother-in-law in these dreams. Her name is Rose. Again that just may be a residual effect from day to day conversations or other outside factors.

But these dreams are starting to become more and more surreal. I wake up some mornings and have to remember where I am. I’ve even had moments in the moments after waking where I can swear someone else is in bed with me. Now that probably has to do with the fact that I’m still partially asleep but then again I don’t know anymore. The biggest thing that gets me about these dreams is that when they sort of jump around in terms of time frames. It’s a bit hard to explain but they are something I’ve never experienced before.

Yes I’ve had recurring dreams but nothing to this extend to where I have an entire dream family. Okay I take it back but they usually involved someone famous as my dream spouse. But this is starting to freak me out a bit. I haven’t had anything this elaborate over such a set time period. My best friend jokes that maybe he’s my future spouse. I just laughed and told her whoever he is he’s super slow. I’ve been dreaming him for over 10 years now.

Again I can say some of these factors may be a wish fulfillment or again my biological clock talking. These dreams were fun and even cute but no that they have become more intense and involved I’m at a loss of what to label them now. Either way we’ll just have to wait and see if this guy is real. If not i guess I’m slowly losing my mind.
