Tuxedo cats are a breed all their own. They range in temperament from mild to adventurous. All in all, they brighten your home and fill it with love.
I currently own two black and white cats. Dylan and Ziggy.
Not all black and white cats are Tuxie’s
There is a debate about what counts as a tuxedo cat. Some people think that they should have a solid white line down their bellies like Sylvester from Looney Tunes. Other people think as long as they have the typical black and white tuxedo style they count as a Tuxie.
Do I think Dylan and Ziggy count at Tuxie’s? Dylan does because he has a solid white line down his belly. Ziggy on the other hand doesn’t his line is broken up. Either way, they are loveable black and white cats.
They come in all shapes and sizes
Tuxie’s come in a variety of shapes and coat styles from fluffy to short coats. Again everyone has their version of what counts as a Tuxedo cat.
Speaking of coats a tuxie’s coat pattern will vary from cat to cat. Some may look like they have a similar coat pattern but they don’t. Dylan and Ziggy are good examples of this. They both have similar coat styles but Dylan has the solid white belly line while Ziggy doesn’t. They also have different markings on their back legs. Dylan has a white streak around his back legs almost like he’s wearing a bracelet. While Ziggy has one solid black leg with white sock but his right leg has a black spot on the white.
Some tuxie’s like to talk
Ziggy and Dylan both prove this point well. They love to voice their opinions or let me know they are around.
I don’t know if this is true for all tuxie’s. This may just be the case for Dylan and Ziggy because they are part Siamese as well.

They can be loving or spicy
Dylan and Ziggy are like day and night. Dylan likes to go on adventures while Ziggy is more of a homebody. He’s also a fraidy cat. He’s a giant but scared of a lot of stuff.
Ziggy’s mom Stache is a bit spicy. She was the most like her mom Boots out of her sisters.
Here latest litter of kittens seem to have her cattitude.
@lwpblog Fun with kittens. I was taking some time to socialize a litter of kittens. These belong to a local feral mama cat. They were returned safely to her.

These kittens did calm down after some handling and pets. I don’t know if the hissing one (male) will get over his spiciness but he will be loved all the same.
Sometimes they mellow as they get older.
Tuxie’s may take longer to be adopted
Like their all black brothers (I’m talking about Shadow) black and white cats may take longer to be adopted too. This may just be a personal preferance or it may also be due to superstiious reasons.
What ever the reason is they can stay longer at shelters and rescuses waiting for a home.
If you can open your heart and home to a Tuxie or a black and white cat that would be great. They will fill your day with love and entertainment.
