At times we may end up with extra sheets. For instance, I had a fitted sheet that tore but the flat sheet was still in good shape. I tend to fold these up and store them. I thought I’d give you some repurposing ideas for these extra sheets.

a free sofa cover

This is a great idea if you have pets. Even if you don’t have a sheet that fully covers your sofa you can still cover an area your pets love to sleep on.

I also found that it helps cut down on dander and pet hair on your furniture.

We have a loveseat and a full-sized sofa so we found out that a queen sheet will cover the love seat while a king will cover the full sofa.

Also on a side note if you have a fitted sheet this may fit as well.

Using a sheet on the sofa is also great because they are easy to wash. All you need to do is shake them out before tossing them in the washer.

You can also use a sheet to cover a chair too. We did this for the holidays one year to pull the living room together.

cover an area rug

We started doing this in 2021 when we were given Dylan, Sam, and Teddy. This not only helped keep the rug clean but it also kept their nails from snagging on the rug. It also added an extra layer of cushion for them to play on.

You will need to measure your area rug to find the sheet that fits best. Our rug is a 5 by 6 I believe so a full or queen sheet will fit.

I change the sheet 2 to 3 times a week depending on how dirty it gets.

Use them as backgrounds

You can use them as backgrounds for photos. It doesn’t matter if you hang them or use them for a flat lay. I would suggest you try to remove any wrinkles prior to taking your photos or videos.

If you have a metal door you can hold the sheet with magnets. Or an inexpensive tension rod or shower curtain rod.

if you are going to use a tension rod all you need is some claps to hold it in place.

For flat lays you can add other items on top of the sheet or drape it over a surface.

For the photo below I draped the sheet over a bench we have in the backyard.

For this turntable post, I covered my kitchen table with a plain twin white sheet from Target.

Other uses

You can repurpose sheets for many things. I sometimes use them to cover work surfaces when painting.

You can also use them to cover a bedspread or comforter. I do this for Sophie that way my comforter stays cat hair-free.

You can also use an old sheet in a first aid kid. You can tear them up for bandages or other first-aid needs.

Or use them as rags when painting or doing car repair.

You can also use a sheet as a makeshift table cloth.

Use them for craft projects too.

Another use would be to use them as packing material. You can wrap breakables in them as well.

As I mentioned the repurposing usages are endless.

I hope you found this post helpful.
