Header image provided by Pixabay When I was trying to figure out how to set up an email address for my blog. I did my homework. I also did a lot of online searching. I will admit it’s a bit confusing and it can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many options to choose from. Let’s get the basics out of the way. You don’t always have to set up a dedicated email address for your blog but it usually a good thing to do. That way you can separate your personal email from your professional one. It also helps keep you better organized.

Free options

There are many free options out there to set up an email address for a blog or even a business.  You can set up an email using Gmail or Outlook or other options such as these. But let ‘s face it having an email that ends in your @yourdomain.com looks much more professional. As opposed to Pallove@ Gmail or Outlook or the like.

Zoho

I liked Zoho because it offers a variety of  options besides just email. You can set up a free email address for your blog using your own domain extension which is easy to do. You can also customize your email settings such as forwarding your blog email to other email address too. As i mentioned they offer a variety of other products and services as well.  For the free email service you have a standard email address along with the ability to have a light or dark email theme. You are given a 5GB storage capacity along with a few other options. They have recently updated some of the services you can learn more by visiting the link above. Zoho also has a paid service as well. For me at this time the free version is all I need.

Mail.com

I will admit I’m not familiar with this site but it came up in my search so I figured I’d share it. From the looks of the website, it looks to be similar to Zoho in a few ways. It allows you to use your domain as your email extension. From the home page info, they offer 2GB of email storage, mobile services along with email forwarding.

Hosted Email

Many hosting services also allow you to set up an email account, I’m hosting my site through Bluehost. Bluehost allows you to set up an email address. This is great until you opt to change hosting services but if you plan to stay with a service for a determined amount of time you may want to try this option out.

Other Options and Suggestions

Also if you’re using WordPress.org you can find a variety of plugins that can help you configure an existing email address. That will require some research before you set it up. What I can suggest is that if you’re just starting off using a free service is the way to go. You may not have many messages at first so there’s not need to sink a lot of money into an email service right away. Also, the nice thing about the free email account is that you can connect it to any site you use. So if your blog is set up via a site such as Tumblr or Blogger or the like you can just add your email address to a contact us link. I hope these tips were helpful and useful.
