Derma-E recently gifted me two anti-acne related products. The Anti-Acne Box Kit is a nice selection of products that help treat acne.

This was the first time I’d used an Anti-Acne kit so it was a different experience.

The kit

Derma-e Anti-Acne Set box with products.
Derma-e Anti-Acne Set box with products. Acne deep pore cleansing wash Blemish control treatment serum and Acne Rebalancing cream

The kit includes the following products:

  • Acne deep pore cleansing wash
  • Blemish control treatment serum and
  • Acne Rebalancing cream

All the products in the kit contain Tea tree oil and Salicylic Acid. They also contain Aloe and Chamomile. That being shared you may want to spot treat your skin to make sure you don’t have any adverse reactions.

Also note that if you are already using a product with a higher percentage of Salicylic Acid you may have excessive drying or possibly peeling skin. The products may cause this reaction in some people. This may depend on the current state of your acne and how much of the product you apply as well.

I will also note that you may want to try this out as a once a week treatment just to see how your skin reacts. The box states the kit can be used for teens or adults who have oily to acne-prone skin. I have dry skin but still felt it worked well for me.

As far as usage goes some products in the kit may be used up to a few times a day. But again you may want to start off with once a week and move on from there.

The products

As I mentioned above the kit includes 3 items which I’ll talk about below.

Acne Deep Pore Cleansing Wash

The cleansing wash is a nice size. It’s a gel cleanser that does have a noticeable scent of tea tree. it’s not too strong but you know it’s there. Since the cleanser was delivered during a heatwave it was a bit runnier then I expected.

You can use the cleanser only on your acne effected areas or your full face. i used it on my full face.

  • Derma-E Deep Pore Cleansing Wash tube in hand.
  • Derma-E Deep Pore Cleansing Wash gel in my hand.

I was surprised that it didn’t foam as much as I hoped it would. You do feel at tingling on the skin. Depending on how long you leave it on your skin may result in possible excess drying of the skin.

  • Derma-E Deep Pore Cleansing Wash applied to my face.
  • Derma-E Deep Pore Cleansing Wash applied to my face side view.

It was gentle on my skin and didn’t cause any real redness or a burning sensation. Results may vary from user to user. But overall it rinsed well with out leaving any type of film on my skin or making it feel too dry.

The Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum

The serum is clear and very light weight. I found a small amount goes a long way. You can use it to spot treat your blemishes or on your entire face.

The serum comes in an easy-to-use pump-style bottle.

  • Derma-E Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum bottle in my hand.
  • Derma-E Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum. Serum in my hand with bottle.

The serum absorbed quickly into my skin. I didn’t have any adverse reactions such as burning or redness. I also liked that my face didn’t feel sticky or tacky.

Acne Rebalancing Cream

The rebalancing cream is very calming to the skin. It also absorbs quickly. I will admit again since the set was delivered during a heatwave the cream was thinner then usual. I found when I opened the tube i large amount expelled into my hand. So it’s suffice to day a small amount goes a long way. Again you can use this only on your acne affected areas or your entire face.

The cream is a typical white shade. It does have a light tea tree scent but it’s not too bad. I did have a slight tingling when applied it. This may have been because the serum may not have been fully absorbed into my skin yet. But I can say that it does work well and it didn’t cause any burning or redness.

You may need to rub it in fully if you apply a bit too much so you don’t have white streaks on your face.

User Experience

I can say that since I first used the Anti-Acne kit I’ve used it a hand full of times since. i liked that it did dry out my active acne. I didn’t have much peeling. I did have some after my initial use but I think i just left the cleanser on a bit too long. It wasn’t anything too worrisome. It was something light like when you rub your skin and have a little flake off.

I liked that the products didn’t cause any real redness or burning sensation. The tea tree scent is noticeable but not too bad. I loved that the cleanser gives your skin a nice tingling. I did see that my face looked cleaner. My face felt smoother as well.

The serum and rebalancing cream are a nice because they add an extra layer of hydration and can also help with acne prone skin. The Rebalancing cream is hydrating and didn’t seem to dry out my skin too much.

You can use these products with your existing skincare routine but you may want to double-check that you don’t have any interactions.

final thoughts

As a whole, the Anti-Acne set is a good investment. Even if you use it for spot treatments it may last you a while. This may depend on how much you use it.

I found all the products worked well even for my dry skin. I liked that i didn’t have any adverse reactions or redness.

The kit retails for $24.99 USD. It can be found at Derma-E, Ulta (select products) and Sprouts (check your local stores)
