It’s summertime again, meaning no one wants to be stinky when they are out and about. So I thought I’d list ten Deodorants/Antiperspirants that might be worth trying.

I’m not going to lie I get overheated easily and sweat easily. So I need something that helps wick away moisture while still leaving me smelling fresh. This has been a hard feat in many cases. Some products for me aren’t as effective as I’d liked. While others don’t mix well with my chemistry (I’m looking at you baking soda.). I’ve narrowed it down to ingredients and, at times, the product scent.

I understand everyone is different so what may not be as effective for me may work well for you.

Now let’s get to the list.

Stick form

Deodorant

1. Dove Refillable deodorant

I tried this a few years ago. To be honest it’s a novel idea and cuts down on waste. But it has some flaws too.

The deodorant was a gel-like stick. it came with a stainless steel container.

The scent was cucumber green tea. it was different. The product applied okay but did take time to warm to the skin.

It dried clear on the skin. However, I did notice that I had to find the right balance when applying it because it did stain my clothing a bit.

I think this may have been great to use during cooler weather. But reapplication will be needed if you are someone who sweats heavily. I did like that the product didn’t leave me smelling like a hot cucumber salad at the end of the day.

2.Dove Men + Care

I tried Dove Men+Care deodorant in the scent extra fresh.

The deodorant is gel-like in texture. It applies clear to the skin. The scent was a mix of citrus bordering on a soapy smell.

I liked that this product applied clear on the skin but I felt it left a lot to be desired. The scent didn’t work well for me either.

In terms of keeping you dry, I didn’t think it worked well without reapplying.

3. Tom’s of Maine

I’ve tried two Tom’s of Main products. I liked both of them. They were aluminum-free. I liked that they applied clear.

I tried the Cucumber Aloe and Coconut Mango scents.

I liked these because they didn’t irritate my skin or leave any residue. The scents were mellow and at the end of the day, I wasn’t left smelling like a hot fruit salad or rancid cucumber.

The deodorants didn’t stain my clothing.

If you are a heavy sweater you will need to reapply this product as you see fit.

Antiperspirant

4. Shea Moisture

I didn’t even know Shea Moisture made deodorants/antiperspirants.

I tried two earlier this year. I tried the Smoothing and Moisturizing deodorants.

I will admit I think I liked the smoothing deodorant better. It had manuka honey and retinol in it.It also didn’t have such a strong shea butter scent. The moisturizing deodorant had more of a shea butter scent to it. it also left the scent on my shirt.

Both products applied smoothly without caking or leaving white marks.

They did help wick moisture away but it took a few seconds to minutes. This might vary from person to person. It may also vary depending on the top you are wearing as well.

I’ve tried them both during 90-plus-degree weather and I still felt the smoothing deodorant was better for me.

5. Dove Advanced care

This is a newer Dove Antiperspirant line. I was sent a full-size sample stick a while ago thanks to Allure. I hadn’t tried it until recently.

It’s similar to the traditional Dove deodorant sticks but this one applies clear to the skin yet the stick is white. The scent was Cool Essentials. I guess it’s supposed to be a cucumber scent.

I liked that the deodorant didn’t leave white marks or any stains on my clothes. I don’t smell bad at the end of the day.

In terms of protection, it works but may need to be reapplied.

Dry sprays

Dry sprays have been popular over the last few years. I’ve tried a few of them and liked many.

Antispirperants

6. Degree Advanced

I tried a travel-size Degree Advanced deodorant. the scent was Cool Rush. It was a bit more masculine in scent than I would have liked.

I liked that the spray is easy to use. You just shake the bottle. Hold it 6 inches away from your underarms and spray. The spray pattern is wide and does a good job at distributing the dry spray onto the skin.

I liked that I could take it with me on the go in case I wanted to reapply.

The dry spray dries clear on the skin.

Effectiveness may vary from user to user so you may need to reapply.

7. Degree Ultra Clear Black and White dry spray

This was another product I was able to try. I liked that the container had a slim design and was easy to store in a cabinet or drawer.

This deodorant has a sliding trigger button so it could be locked when not in use. It was similar to the previously mentioned dry spray. You just shake, hold 6 inches from your underarms, and spray.

The scent was Pure Fresh it was light and airy and didn’t have a heavy powder scent.

Is degree Ultra Clear dry spray worth it?

It was effective to a degree (Pun not intended). It did keep me dry but it took a few minutes to kick in. I will say that reapplication was quick and easy.

8. Degree Unlimited

This was a different dry spray. I liked that it offered a spray-to-powder formulation. It didn’t leave any white marks on my clothes. It didn’t cake under my arms either.

The scent was a bit different it was Marine it had a hint of watery notes.

it applies easily and quickly. You hold it 6 inches away from your underarms and spray.

Have you tried degree Unlimited products yet?

it’s effective at keeping me dry but it could take a few minutes for it to kick in. So you may need to reapply.

9. Dove dry spray

I’ve tried a few of these travel sample dove dry sprays over the years. They can vary in effectiveness. But I like that they offer a quick application.

This was in Scent Cool Essentials. It’s sold in an Ultimate and Advanced care version as well.

The scent is light and not overwhelming. I liked that all you need to do is shake and spray. Hold it 5 to 6 inches away from your underarms and spray.

It dries clear and doesn’t leave white marks on your clothes. I liked that the scent was mellow and didn’t turn sour after a few hours of wear.

Dove Dry Spray Deodorant, Cool Essentials

It was effective at keeping me dry but again it took some time to kick in. You may need to reapply depending on your environment.

10. Secret weightless dry spray

Secret has its own dry spray. they have what they consider a weightless dry spray. I never quite understood that term because it’s a spray. But I guess it sounded good for marketing.

The bottle has a nice tapered design so it’s easy to hold. The scent I tried was waterlily +argan oil.

The scent is a bit floral but not too strong. you apply it by shaking the can and holding it 6 inches away from your underarms and spray for 2 seconds.

This one dried clear on the skin. I didn’t have any issues with it in terms of skin irritation. It didn’t leave any marks on my clothing either.

I felt it worked okay but could be reapplied if you were in a hot environment.

Which is right for you?

I can’t say for certain because only you know your own body. I found that if I try a few deodorants/antiperspirants out that they grow on me and over time they may be more effective.

Here’s a tip

I’ve noticed that if I apply a stick deodorant/antiperspirant and then top it with a dry spray it can help combat sweat a bit better. This may very from user to user though.
