Why is there so much division in the beauty community?

I’ve noticed there seems to be a growing trend in the beauty community among content creators that there is a growing division. Some want to widen their niche and share new products. At the same time, other creators criticize them for not staying in their lane so to speak.

Beauty includes many products

I think the term beauty includes many different products from skincare to hair care to makeup and fragrances.

Just because you start off creating content on one topic doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to share about other aspects as well.

Some people get tired of talking about the same things.

Ageism is still alive and well in the beauty community

People get defensive and offensive

I’ve seen so many hate-filled comments on posts people create. I get everyone feels brave because they have a phone. Let alone they feel like they can give unasked-for opinions. But when you comment on someone’s content only to criticize a creator for trying to expand their product knowledge. This not only makes that person seem petty it also makes them sound ignorant.

I get that some people feel that they are the end all and be all of a topic because they are knowledgable but they also need to understand other people like to learn about new products too.

I’ve seen people go on rants because they feel they are the queen of X beauty topic. They just want to belittle smaller creators or try to gain more exposure by being petty in my opinion.

If you feel the need to be petty of tell other creators to stick to makeup or skincare only that says a lot about you as a person.

Some people are just trolls

I’ve seen well know creators comment that justify their content to others. I don’t think there is a need for this. I understand that not everyone likes what you put out but why bother trolling someone about it.

It boggles my mind why people do the things they do yet there will always be someone out there who will have something to say.

I’ve always wondered what would happen if the trolls went and trolled each other. How much would they deal with before breaking.

It’s good to learn new things

I for one think it’s good if you want to expand your knowledge on a product or topic. It allows you to find new products to add to your collection. It also allows you to grow as a content creator.

I don’t understand why there is such a division among the beauty community. There is so much to share and it’s open to all. Why pigeon hole folks into one niche and make them stay there.
