Last week i was sent a collaboration email that featured the brand Typology. I wasn’t familiar with the brand so I looked it up. It’s a skincare brand. When I went back to read the email fully it sounded familiar.

It was similar to the other scam emails I’ve had in the past. they were offering big payouts for little to no work.

It was similar to the Fashion Nova and Sephora collabs I’ve been sent over the past few months.

The Email

The Sender

The email was sent from a Gmail account so that should have been a dead giveaway it was a fake. But since some brands so use Gmail for their email you may never know.

The email was sent from the following address:

TYPOLOGYPARIS OFFICIAL officialtypologyparis@gmail.com

The Email text

The email was pretty straightforward and offered collaboration details. Such as payment and what you could be sent.

This email sounds appealing. Especially the possibility of being sent up to 10 products not to mention the payout.

What I learned

I did some digging about this email since it was similar to past email collaboration offers. So I did a quick email search. This seems to be a newer email but so I didn’t find a lot about it.

However, I did go ahead and reach out to the brand which did confirm that this is a scam. The rep from Typology let me know that they are aware of the email too.

Pal’s Tips 🐾

Tips for these types of scams:

  • always check the sender’s address.
  • reach out to the brand directly (by email or via social media)
  • Check to see if the email is a scam by conducting an online search.
  • If the email is not branded (brand dot com) always be suspicious.
  • If the offer sounds too good to be true it usually is.

What type of scam is this?

I can’t say for certain but probably a Phishing scam hoping to gain some important info on you or your financial details. It could also be a money scam as well. Maybe if you were to reply to the email accepting the collab offer they may ask for money for shipping costs or something.

Don’t fall for this email and get the word out.
