I requested a sample from Popsugar Dabble community a while back. it was for a gummy sample. The gummies are from a brand named Smith&Sinclair London. What Smith & Sinclair sells are gummies. Some contain alcohol others are considered mocktails. They also have a few other items according to their website.
Who doesn’t like a cocktail
I like a cocktail every so often. I actually prefer them at times over straight alcohol. I always like flavorful cocktails or things that have fruity notes. So this ideal of an alcohol filled gummy caught my interest.
Popsugar Dabble sent out two gummies to those of us who were able to claim them. They offered two types from Smith & Sinclair’s selection.
I selected two from EAT YOUR DRINK THE PARTY BOX They also offered two gummies from EAT YOUR DRINK THE NIGHT IN A BOX.
When my samples arrived
When my samples arrived I saw i had two. I was sent the following:
one Rum Passion fruit Mojito gummy
one Prosecco Mandarin Spritz gummy
along with a book mark style info card.
According to the info card the gummies are made with high quality spirits, fresh fruit, herbs & Syups. They are also garnished with sugar. The full size box includes 8 gummies.
They included 2 of each:
Pineapple Bellini, Elderflower Gin Spritz, Mandarin Spritz, and Passion Fruit Mojito. They are also vegan, gluten free and 35 Calories. They also have 5% alcohol by volume.
Like with any alcohol containing product please use responsibly.
Rum Passion Fruit Spritz
I like rum but sometimes if it’s too spiced I end up with heart burn. But I can say I was very surprised by the size of the gummy.
I admit I was expecting them to be a bit smaller. I also expected it to be red for some reason. I don’t know why. It is a large gummy. If I had to size it I would say it was the size of a quarter or slightly larger. It was firm to the touch and was covered in sugar.
The sugar was more of the kind they use to line drink glasses. it wasn’t too sweet or too flavorful.
The taste
For me it tasted sort of like a general gummy. It didn’t have a harsh alcohol flavor. I noticed the passion fruit and then the slight spice from the rum. I took it easy and bit off a small bite at a time.
After I finished the gummy I didn’t have any reaction. I didn’t feel there was any type of aftertaste either. About a half hour later I did have a bit of a warming sensation. But that’s usually how I react after I have rum.
Final thoughts
I liked the gummy overall. I can this making a great gift for a friend or during the holidays. Or even as a party gift. Again since they do contain alcohol you will need to use them responsibly. According to Smith & Sinclair, they suggest you have two.
For someone who loves cocktails this would be a great gift idea. The box retails for $24 USD. They also have other products and flavor options as well.
For me, I liked the gummies. They didn’t stick to my teeth and they dissolved evenly. There wasn’t an aftertaste and the flavor was even.
