I recently came across a large shower caddy when I was at Target. Since it was on clearance I bought it. I don’t have a lot of storage space in my bathroom for it but I figured I’d find another use for it.
I liked that it had a large storage capacity along with some smaller storage slots. I also liked that it had holes for ventilation. I knew I wasn’t going to be using it in my shower or even the bathroom. Even though that wasn’t the case for me I got to thinking of other uses for it.
I don’t know about anyone else but I didn’t really think much about using a shower caddy for storage. The idea struck me after I came back from shopping. Since I knew I couldn’t use it in my bathroom. Well, I could but i would have had to leave it sitting on the floor so it would have just looked messy. Anyway, when I came home I shared the Instagram post above. Following that, I went out and placed it in my workspace.
The uses are endless
Outdoors
I found that the shower caddy was perfect for my outdoor art supplies. I had a few small paint pots and a few other items that fit perfectly.
as you can see I was able to get two large bottles into one side of the caddy. The other side fits my paint pots and a can of spray polyurethane. I also added some paper to the last storage slot just to show the storage capacity.
This shower caddy would also make a great gardening tote. Since it has the holes in it. Any leftover soil that is on a small shovel will fall out of the holes. It would also be great to hold any extra seeds or pruners.
Even though grilling season has ended this would be great for grilling as well. Just as long as you didn’t place anything too hot in it. Even if you wanted to use it to store lighter fluid or extra citronella candles. Any type of smaller item that needs a place would work.
Indoors
Bedroom
A shower caddy would be useful on a nightstand. You can store books, magazines, TV remotes or even your e-reader or tablet.
Other storage options would be for your makeup or other skincare. If you have a vanity where you store your makeup I thought it would be a great place to keep your eye shadow palettes. Or maybe a travel or portable mirror as well. You could also use it to store other needed items too.
Bathroom
If your like me and you have a lot of skincare I found that this shower caddy may be what you need. It can hold a fair amount of sheet masks along with other products too.
as you can see from the picture I managed to get a number of skincare products into the caddy. This would be great to have on a shelf or in a bathroom cabinet (if you have the space for it). I liked that i could line up all my sheet masks and still have room for a brush or comb. The right side fit at least 3 to 4 toner bottles and some exfoliating mask tubes
You can also use it as a hair care station. I have some extra items that I was able to store in it. Depending on the product bottle size you might be able to fit more items.
I would suggest you not place a hot blow dryer into the caddy because it may melt but still just a thought.
Other uses
Once I got to thinking about all the uses for this shower caddy my mind took the idea and ran with it. I figured this would be a great arts and crafts tote.
It would also work for a coloring station. If your afraid of losing crayons or markers or colored pencils you can always line the caddy with wax paper or something.
You can also use it for other crafts as well. If your someone who scrapbooks or does paper crafts this may be something to think about.
Once again the possibilities are endless. Don’t forget that shower caddies just aren’t for the shower. You can use them for many things.
