With everyone using Social media these days you may be contacted by many folks. Every platform has messaging. Instagram has direct messaging. Well, I had an interesting DM today.
I was added to a bulk message via Instagram. The thing is the person was sending out random DM’s offering a job.
Job offers aren’t anything new but this offer didn’t seem real.
The DM
I’m sent a lot of DM’s most are just spam or collaboration requests from little companies looking for free promotion in exchange for discounted products.
Today’s DM was sent via a group message. The message was sent to random IG users.
What got me was that the job offer was very sales pitchy. They listed that it was a work-from-home job and that it offered flexible hours. The pay was a bit give away. It was listed in British Pounds (£).
The sender
The message sender was natalja_388.705.
The sender’s profile doesn’t look suspicious at all. It’s completely blank and only lists the name of Turner Williams.
The job offer
This person was determined to get someone to accept their job offer because they posted the same request twice.
I also noticed that the profile had the name of Turner Williams but Grace is the recruiter. That doesn’t sound odd at all, right?

Scam job offer via IG DM
What got me was the What’s App link at the bottom. If you’ve used Instagram Direct messages you know most links don’t work well. So you have to copy the link or send it separately.
The other thing that got me was that the job was UK-based. You would think that these “recruiters” would check the country the people they are mass spamming are in.
Don’t get me started wondering why Turner Williams isn’t sending the DM if it’s his Instagram account. It’s nice that Grace offered me a job but it’s fishy to me.
The company name used is real
It appears that Heek is a real company. But from what I found was that the service they sold is no longer being offered. It seems they offered a chatbot and other website services. You can check out the site here.
The Whois info for the site states based in France.
So again if this doesn’t make you suspicious of the job offer I don’t know what will.
What’s app usage
I know What’s App is used by many people in the US and abroad. But I also know it’s used by scammers as well.
I Googled the link but didn’t come up with any valid info. All I found was a general link to the app.
What kind of scam is this?
I assume this is a Phishing scam because they probably would have asked you for banking or other payment method details. As well as other personal information.
If you are sent a job offer via DM always check out it’s validity before following up.
