About 3 years ago I shared that I had been able to try a free Tubshroom. I figured it would be a nice update to the product. I happened to be shopping and saw the Stainless steel Tubshroom and bought it. I happened to buy the Ultra edition.

The product

This Tubshroom is stainless steel and has a rubber adapter at the end. It fits inside the drain to collect hair before it goes down the drain.

A little more about the adapters

The Tubshroom comes with an adapter already on it which is 1.5 inches.

The others are the following sizes: 1.25 inches, 1.75 inches and 2 inches. the adapter is easy to remove and replace with a larger one. You need to slip it off with a gentle tug.

Let’s compare the tubshrooms

So I had the traditional silicone Tubshroom with a chrome cap. It was a tube with a flat bottom that sat in the drain.

Designs have changed on the Tubshroom.

The size difference and design is vastly different. The stainless steel Tubshroom is more compact and slender in its design. While the traditional Tubshroom is a bit bulky looking. The chrome top had to line up with the silicone base for water to flow through it.

I love the new Tubshroom

I noticed that with the traditional Tubshroom, I was having some hair slip down the drain. I also noted that at times the water didn’t flow as smoothly down the drain.

The stainless steel Tubshroom fit my tub drain perfectly. It sticks out but is still pleasing to the eye. I liked that I didn’t have to change the drain adapter. I found that the water flows without an issue.

I like that it’s easy to remove for quick cleaning. Like the traditional Tubshroom, all you do is pull the hair downward to remove it and throw it away.

It’s suggested to clean the Tubshroom after every shower. This may vary depending on your hair length and how many people are in your household. I clean mine every few days.

Final thoughts and where to buy

Final thoughts

Overall I love the Tubshroom Ultra Edition. I like the stainless steel design and that it’s easy to use. The extra adapters were nice to have but I didn’t feel I needed them. The product fits my needs and budget.

Where to buy

The product retails for $12 to $16 USD.

I’ve found it at a variety of retailers. Lowe’s and Home Depot both sell it as well as Amazon.
