A few weeks back I was able to claim a free sheet set thanks to Try it sampling. Well, the sheets I selected were from Sealy. They were the Sealy Charcoal fresh and cool sheet set.
The sheet set claims to keep you cool and dry. it wicks moisture away from you as you sleep and are charcoal infused to help reduce odor.
The sheet set
The sheet set I was sent was queen-size. They didn’t have any full available. Which was fine. I didn’t know what color I was going to be sent because there wasn’t one listed. The sheet set is sold in gray and white.
The sheets are 100 percent polyester. I wasn’t really bothered by that but wondered if they would be rough or cause a lot of static.
The set included 2 pillowcases, fitted and flat sheets. I was sent a set of white sheets.
I was a bit worried about how well they would wash and how white they would stay. But I tossed them in the washer and hoped for the best.
Thankfully the sheets washed well. I will say that they did still have the crease in the flat sheet from where it was folded in the package but that’s not a big deal.
User experience
Since the sheets were queen size they did fit my bed a bit larger but that’s okay. They didn’t have any snags or other types of imperfections in the material. I did notice a few things however I’ll get to that in a bit.
The sheets had what I can only call a support strap or an anti-slip strap at the bottom to hold the sheet securely to the mattress.
The flat sheet was pretty basic nothing fancy. it did have a bit of a thicker fold at the top edge aside from that it was pretty straightforward.
The pillowcases fit well but I will say if you have a thicker pillow or a longer pillow they might not fit too well. I have a standard/queen-size pillow and they were a bit snug to put them in.

Okay, let’s be honest not all sheets fit everyone’s needs. These had a few cons which I will get to now.
They are 100 percent polyester. So if you’d like a more natural sheet such as cotton these may not be for you. Also if you use a mattress protector that has a waterproof top (plastic or other water-resistant material) you may be hot. I used these during the high heat of summer and they were okay. I did have a mattress protector on so they did hold in the heat.
They are also a bit on the thin side. When I put my pillows in the cases I could see the pillow design through the case.
Keeping with the topic of thinness if you have pets their nails may snag your sheets. Sophie has snagged the flat sheet already. She didn’t tear it but she did leave a bit of a snag in it. That’s not anything too surprising but it can happen nonetheless.
I will say that the side stitching on the flat sheet is decent. It hasn’t unraveled yet. The fitted sheet is constructed well.
Now let’s talk about the color options. The sheets are sold in white and gray. Granted not everyone’s favorite color choice but the white seems to be pretty good so far. I haven’t had any major spots on it or stains.
I didn’t bleach the sheets just used regular laundry detergent with OxiClean powder.
I will say the sheet don’t hold on to odors even with the summer heat my sheets didn’t smell bad. They also didn’t yellow which I was thankful.

Overall the sheet were pretty good. I wish they would have been a bit thicker and had some natural fibers in them but hey I shouldn’t complain they were free. Hopefully, they will have more color options in the future if Sealy opts to keep these in production. The white sheets held up well and didn’t stain or spot that much.
The fabric is thin but if you are someone who is a hot sleeper these may be for you. The fact that they are infused with charcoal helps with odor control and offers a comfortable sleep experience.
