I happened to see some compression socks the last time I was out at the pharmacy. I figured I’d give them a try. I had tried a pair a few years ago and liked them but they were a bit hot and a bit too tight for me.

I bought the Copper Fit Energy compressions socks.

What’s in the box

The box includes a pair of compression socks (sorry I forgot to take a picture of them new out of the box)and an info card. The box offers info on the sizing and material along with washing instructions.

A note on the sizing chart

The box offers a sizing chart that is unisex. You go by shoe size. So being that I wear a 9 to 10 size shoe I purchased the Large/Extra large. I figured I’d size up and they only had this size left at Walgreens.

If you have larger calves size up

If you have large or muscular calves you may want to size up. I bought the L/XL and when I first put them on it seemed a bit snug. But after a few wears the material has stretched a bit.

The sock material

The socks are made of 85% Nylon, 8% Spandex, and 7% Polyester. They have a ribbed top and a reinforced toe and heel. The footbed has reinforced arch support.

Other info to note:

The socks are machine washable using cold water, They are copper infused to help reduce odor, moisture-wicking fabric, breathable, impact absorbing, and all-around compression.

The socks note they are easy on and easy off (we will get to that next. )

How to put them on

These Copper Fit compression socks came with an instruction card on how to put the socks on. Since they are compression socks they need to be stretched before putting them on.

Copper fit also has a video tutorial as well. The info card notes not to apply any lotions or body oils to your legs before putting the socks on. I guess this would cause slipping the info card didn’t provide a reason why. But you can powder your legs if needed. The info card states you should put them on in the morning.

My user experience

I washed the socks before I used them. I will say that the easy-on claim is a bit of a stretch (forgive the pun.) It took me a bit to roll the socks down and stretch them and try to slip my foot in. But once I did it wasn’t too bad.

You may need to adjust the sock a bit of the heel is a bit offset but they are pretty smooth.

The socks are supposed to sit below the knee this may vary depending on your height. I found that for me one sock was a bit longer just by a half inch. It’s nothing too bad but I still left them slightly lower than below my knee.

I liked that the bottom of the sock is reinforced and has some padding. It’s not too bulky.

How the socks feel

The sock upper portion has a nylon/spandex feel. The lower portion has a nylon/polyester/spandex feel. The arch support has a strip that has yellow lines. I’m not sure if that’s supposed to represent the copper or just a design pattern.

The toes and heels are reinforced but not bulky. You also don’t have hard seam reinforced stitching on the toe area that some socks have.

Overall your foot feels cradled without feeling slick.

When walking

I liked that the socks didn’t slide around in my shoes when I walked. They offer some decent cushion when walking. The compression is gradual and isn’t too constricting. This may vary from user to user.

I wore them a few times when out running errands and liked that my legs didn’t feel tired. My feet also didn’t seem to swell as much as they usually do. Again this may vary by user.

When sitting

Compression socks may be helpful for those of us who sit for hours at a desk or during long trips. For me they worked well I had to adjust them a bit because I felt if they were too close to the back of my knees it felt too tight.

Things I’ve noticed after a few uses

I’ve followed the washing directions and wash the socks when I need to. I’ve noticed that they have held up okay after three or four washings.

They are starting to pill at the bottom of the socks. This may just be due to the other clothing I wash them with.

I can’t really explain why one sock was slightly longer then the other one but it could have been a maufacturing issue.

The socks do absorb odor. Even with the claim of the copper reducing odor. They didn’t smell bad they just smelled like my shoes with a light foot odor.

I found that the ribbed band at the top did leave an indent on my legs by the end of the day.

How long does it take to get used to them?

For me I wore them a few times around the house. I really put them to the test when I was out running errands. So for me it was roughly a week or two for me to get used to wearing them.

Are they really easy off?

As with the putting the socks on taking them off may be a challenge for some people. I found it easiest to roll the socks down and then pull them off. If you’ve been wearing them for a few hours and have been on your feet you may want to prop you foot up before removing them. I found this was better for me.

as for the copper infused claims

As for the copper infused claims I think this can be debatable. There maybe some in the areas supporting the foot but again how much is anyone’s guess. The socks did collect odors so I assume it might be minimal.

Do they really work?

For me the socks did what they stated they would. They helped my legs and reduced swelling. This may vary from user to user.

Final thoughts and where to buy

Final thoughts

Overall the Copper Fit Energy Compression socks did what they claimed they would. They offered gradual compression without being too confining or tight.

I would have liked that they had be a bit more breathable or made of a Poly Cotton matterial. But that’s just my take on it. If you are someone who has larger calves you may want to size up. The unisex sizing by shoe size may confuse some shoppers. Or you may be like me and end up with one sock that is slightly longer then the other.

The socks stay in place and don’t slide when you walk. I liked that the socks had reinforced toes, heels and the extra cushion at the foot bed.

The ribbed cuff of the sock may leave an indent on your legs by the end of the day but this may vary from user to user.

The copper infusion is a bit debatable but that’s just my opinion. As a whole the socks did their job and did help relieve my leg swelling. Again this may vary from user to user.

Where to buy

These Copper Fit Energy compression socks can be found at various retailers. I purchsed mine at my local Walgreen’s for around $13 USD.
