Did you know you may be missing out on free money?
You might be asking how? So I’ll tell you.
Class Actions or Lawsuits
Sometimes you may be sent a notice of a lawsuit. Some lawsuits vary as do the Class action notifications. But if you qualify you may want to sign up.
There are many lawsuits or class actions that happen all the time. Some may require proof of purchase or ownership depending on the suit. Some may be open to anyone who used a service or purchased a product.
You will need to read all of the requirements before filing.
Some payouts may be small but hey even if you get a $1 it’s still something.
Payout options may range from a prepaid card (Visa or Mastercard) to a Paypal payment. Some may also send out a check.
If the lawsuit is against a store you may be sent store credit or gift codes/cards.
When JCPenney was sued here in California for misleading prices they sent out gift codes.
You may be contacted by a law office if some lawsuits become class actions. I’ve had some in the past they may send out a paper card or an email.
I’ve even had some law offices ask if I would like to be notified about future lawsuits I may qualify for.
I will admit some lawsuits may take years to know what the payout will be but some might be short.
I think the longest lawsuit I dealt with was for Ticketmaster and a Lithium battery one. Those were a few years.
Ticketmaster gave us free ticket codes. Which I never got to use because they never qualified for any events I wanted to attend. But I digress.
The smallest payout was a little under $2 the largest was a little over $60.
Here are a few websites to check out.
Classaction.org
This website offers a variety of information about lawsuits that are currently open. You can also report a potential suit as well.
OpenClassActions.com
Open Class Actions is a great website. They also have a list of open lawsuits along with other information.
Topclassactions.com
This one is one of my favorite sites. Like the others, they have a list of open lawsuits. They also offer other information as well. They also are pretty active on their social media as well.
I suggest signing up for newsletters from these sites.
You might have unclaimed money
There is a lot of money that goes unclaimed. Sometimes it may be a bank account someone forgot about or it could have been a credit from an old utility bill.
You can find out if you have unclaimed money.
You can check by your state or visit the links below.
Unclaimed.org
This website has a few options to claim unclaimed money or property. It directs you to the correct sites.
USA.gov
This site has a list of a few different options for claiming money or property.
Other free money
Gift cards
Gift cards are so easy to forget about. This is free money. Even if the gift card is to a store or restaurant you don’t like. You can search for resale sites that purchase the card from you. Granted they may not give you full value but it’s extra money.
Reward points
If you are a rewards member of a store you may want to check your points balances. Some may add up to a few dollars off your purchase or maybe even a free item.
For instance, on Father’s Day, I ordered a pizza from Dominoes and was able to claim a free dessert thanks to my reward points. It saved me $7.
Credit card rewards points add up as well. So you may want to cash those in for something too.
