So last night I was having a chat with one of my friends. I think we all know someone who is an overthinker. This can also include ourselves. That being said even when we try to push a topic out of our mind it’s still there. Believe me as an over-thinker myself I get it. We can see something and dwell on it forever and a day.

Here’s what gets me

Now getting back to where I started. During my chat with my friend, I noticed she was still dealing with an issue that’s been on her mind for a few days. The full details will be shared in a post later this week. But to make it short she was freaking out (for the lack of a better term) about an interaction with a friend of hers.

Granted we all probably have those moments where we think should I have said that? or Do they really mean this? It was a topic of debate since we chatted last week and of course yesterday. I guess last night I was a bit crabby due to the heat. I let her have her say as I amused myself with whatever I was doing online at the time.

Overthinking to the max

There comes a point where we can overthink things to an obsessive nature. No matter what the topic or situation is some times you can’t let it go. I fully understand why my friend is overthinking the interaction she had. Yet I also think it was to the point of lunacy. You can only view a situation or in her case a comment so much before you blow it out of proportion.

It may make us crazier than we already are

No matter how much you try to figure some things out there isn’t always a solution or answer. Like with most things in life your answers may not show up until later. Or there may be a solution at some point depending on the situation.

Again i get the fact of letting your mind run wild with an idea. I do it all the time. Yet I also know that when it comes to a point of near obession you need to reign it in. Yes I know it’s easier said than done but sometimes we need to stop.

We need to take a step back take a deep breath and remind ourselves that everything is going to be okay. We will have an answer at some point. We can leave all the overthinking for more important matters. So we can put down our phones or close our Skype or messenger windows and let it go for right now.

Let’s dwell on the better things in our lives instead of the negative or irritating or fill in the blank. There is so much more we can be doing with our mental energy besides overthinking something that may not matter in the coming days or weeks. Besides I for one know, I don’t need to be any crazier than I already am.
