As we all know the holidays can be very stressful. Be it because we want to find the perfect gift for the perfect person or if your like me you have to deal with an dysfunctional extended family. I’ve come up with these ways to keep myself sane. Having ADD I don’t deal with stress well I don’t think many people do quite frankly.

Doodle your little heart out

It doesn’t matter what you draw as long as it helps keep you calm or calms you down it works.

Here’s an example I just drew it doesn’t have to be  a masterpiece. Anything that keeps you from wanting to tell someone off or punch someone due to stress is helpful.

Color your stress away.

Another stress reliever is coloring. You can color in a picture you drew or buy an adult coloring book and color till your content and feeling better. It seems funny but it helps many people especially people with ADD.

Listen or watch what you like.

I’ve learned over the years to keep myself calm by listening to music I love before heading out and about during the holidays. I do this while I get ready to go or while  I put on my makeup. This helps keep me calm and just makes me happy. I can only listen to so much Christmas and Holiday music before I want to scream. I found singing along with a favorite song is also a de-stressor for me.

The same goes for watching things you enjoy. I find this to be a big help at the end of a hectic day. I watch old TV shows I love or movies. It’s nice to let the cares of the day melt away along with the stress.

Do things you love

I find that if you can spend time alone for a while is a big help. I also found that doing something you love can be a calmer also. I will play a video game or read just to de-stress. Just doing something you love will help you feel calmer in the long run.

I hope these tips are helpful. If you have tips you’d like to add feel free to comment on how you like to de-stress.
