I was able to review a product on behalf of Try It Sampling recently. I was sent a free Tub Shroom drain protector. I was able to select the Chrome Edition of the product.

Tub Shroom is a drain protector that catches hair which helps avoid clogs. I thought this would be a great thing to try.

The product

The Tub Shroom is pretty straight forward. It has a chrome top with holes to allow drainage. Its base is a pliable silicone material. The base also has proper drainage holes along with sturdy base support.

  • Tub Shroom in the package.
  • top of the tub shroom product. has 4 holes to allow water to drain through it.
  • Side and base of tub shroom. its silicone and has holes for water flow.

To me it was a basic drain stopper with hair catcher base.

User experience

I liked that the Tub Shroom package was easy to open. I also liked that the packaging has basic info people would need.

The placement was very easy. You just place the Tub Shroom in your bathtub drain. Depending on how deep your drain is your Tub Shroom may pop out a bit. I know mine does. I also know that it’s needs to be above the drain a bit to collect any hair.

Since i have an open drain i just placed the Tub Shroom into it. I also adjusted it to make sure it was secure. If you have a drain with cross bars in it like I do. All you need to do is push the Tub Shroom down until you feel it stop. You can adjust the height if you don’t want it to be touching the drain cross bars.

I found that after the first use it did collect a fair amount of hair. This may vary depending on your current hair length and how many people use the tub. I have a shower tub combo bathroom so this works out great for me.

Since my hair is on the linger side right now this is a big help. I don’t have to snake the drain as much.

The Tub Shroom worked well for me and it liked that it’s easy to clean. The hair is wrapped around the base. So all you need to do is take a paper and pull the hair down to remove it.

  • Tub Shroom after one use. Hair and soap collected around the base.
  • tub shroom cleaned. Hair removed and rinsed.

I liked that the Tub Shroom did capture the hair and soap residue. I also liked that it’s easy to clean.

final thoughts

I can say that the Tub Shroom did what it claimed it would do. Again this may vary from user to user. I liked that it was easy to clean and fit my drain. Since I did receive the chrome topped version I may have hard water build up on it but that’s not anything to worrisome.

The fact that it’s easy to clean and still allows water to drain is also a plus.

Now let’s talk about the price. The Tub Shroom retails for around $13 USD.

I found it via amazon and Home Depot.

You can also find it in a variety of colors. The brand also makes one for sinks as well.
