I came across this article in my local newspaper last Sunday. Well, I stopped to read it because it caught my eye. Personally, I don’t watch porn but if that’s your think to each their own. Being that I have A.D.D my mom started to wander and of course, that lead to the question of how and why I even went as far as thinking about what sort of societalΒ issues this may cause in the long run.Β

The gist of the article is basic and straight forward it discussesΒ the uses of Virtual Reality (VR) headsets and the use of 3D camera technology in the adult film industry. I’m all for people enjoying what they like. I just find it interesting and confusing to a point.Β

I recall VR tech back in the 90β€²s and I’ve even tried on a VR headset which I found rather bulky but then again I wear glasses so it would be awkward for me to use.But then again we know that VR headsets can’t be worn for a long period of time due to various reasons. Β Before I go on a nonsense tangent let me get back on track.

After I finished reading the article my mind started to wander like I mentioned before. I thought about numerousΒ Sci-Fi books I’ve read along with movies I recall. One major point I thought of was how would this work. I know the point of it would be to bring entertainment to the viewer but would it give you the effect of being part of the whole experience. Honestly, when I think of VR headsets I think of the video game or computer game industry. The adult film industry was the last thing I’d think of. I understand the ideal in a sense of the viewer being immersed into the full experience but yet again I started to think of why this is needed.Β

So, in turn, this led to my A.D.D kicking in thinking about the other option mentioned in the article which was 3D cameras. Again, I see the point in this to immerse the viewer’s senses but to me, I don’t get it. I think we can all agree there are some things that may not be very pretty in 3D. All of this got me wondering about how this will affect people in terms of entertainment needs (if you watch porn that is). So, all in all, i can say I think I learned a bit from the article.Β
