Earlier this year we had a bit of a surprise. Willie disappeared for about a week. We of course feared the worst that she had either passed on or gotten lost. Just like Winnie.

Well to my surprise a week later she showed up just fine. Well, little did I know she found a friend to bring home with her.

After Willie came back home we noticed another cat that was in our yard. This is nothing new but somewhat unusual.

Most of the neighboring cats come to visit but we know them. This one was a stranger. She was very cute and very friendly. So I thought she must have been lost.

I noticed that this cat was very territorial. She didn’t seem to want to get along with my cats. She was also very friendly towards me.

I posted her as lost

I posted the cat via the Ring app as being lost. I figured if she was lost in my area someone would come and claim her. Well, I had a few responses one person suggest I check Paw Boost to see if she had been listed as lost.

Another user contacted me thinking it could be her stepdaughter’s cat which had been missing. I waited on a reply and had any further info.

I tried to catch her to take her to the animal shelter or to the vet to see if she was microchipped but she refused to go into the carrier.

So we just let her be hoping maybe she’d go home. During this time my mom started to call her Sally because she thought I had mentioned the name. She was so happy to be acknowledged she meowed for attention. So she’s been Sally ever since.

We had a big surprise

We noticed that she was looking a bit plump so my mom thought she could be pregnant. We had wanted to set her up a space but she made herself at home in a box in the garage.

well sure enough come the end of March I heard her in the garage mewing. I went in and heard her cry. followed by a small kitten mew. She had two kittens. I didn’t disturb her but let her be until she came down on her own.

I assumed this was her first litter so we let her care for her kittens the first week before I had to climb a ladder to get the box down. I checked on her kittens and they were doing well. Her kittens were a gray one and a gray and white one. Her second cat had a cow pattern.

I did take her to the shelter

I took her and her kittens to the shelter in early April. I didn’t want to but I wasn’t able to keep her and she was still a bit hostile towards my cats.

I figured if she had a chip they would contact her family.

she came back

After I took her to the shelter I kept an eye on the shelter website to see if Sally and her kittens were posted as being lost.

Well, she wasn’t so I figured they had found her family.

In late April I was closing my gate and I suddenly see a little fluffy body rush by me. I was like Sally. Sure enough, she had come back.

It was obvious she had been spayed probably the week before she showed back up at my house. She had her ear tipped too.

I felt bad for her because she came back looking for her kittens. She was calling them. We just figured we’d let her be until she wanted to go home.

Here’s the dilemma

Here’s the dilemma she doesn’t seem to want to go back to her house. I don’t know if her owners didn’t know she was pregnant. Or if she felt she couldn’t keep her kittens at her house safely.

All I can guess is that she lives down the street somewhere. But she has taken a liking to me and I like her but she’s a bit territorial. which means she will chase my other cats away.

I have to remind her that she can’t be a bully and that they lived her first. She is getting better.

But again I don’t understand why she won’t go home. We’ve tried our best to explain to her that we don’t have her kittens. I think she understands that now but she feels this is home.

So at this point, I’m hoping she’ll go home when she feels it’s time to.

All I can figure is that maybe her owners work so she doesn’t have the attention she needs during the day. I will admit at times she does disappear so I think she goes home for a little while.

I can’t really say her owners are irresponsible or uncaring but I know cats like to roam too.

So far now I guess we gained a new feline friend.

    1. It does but the thing is it’d be nice if she went back home to her family. She’ll be okay for a bit but then gets aggressive again. My poor cats don’t know what to do. We don’t know who the father or father’s were. Willie ended up being a girl.
