As a disclaimer, I was sent a free sample product courtesy of The Essentials Co for review and testing purposes.
I had been seeing a lot of interesting posts regarding these new blackhead maks. I was curious to see how they worked.
Well to my surprise I was contacted by a rep from The Escential Co. I was asked if I would like to review a product for them. When the reply email arrived I was in luck because they offered a blackhead mask.
The Product
I was very interested in trying this product as I mentioned above. I don’t have a lot of blackheads but it seemed like something I would use.
The Blackhead mask tube is about the size of a general facial cleanser tube. It came sealed with foil.
The cap is a flip top by the way. The foil is easy to peel off.
The Escential Co. suggests you conduct a spot test on your hand if you have sensitive skin. I did this as a precaution but didn’t have any type of reaction. Also, like with any skin care product, they advise if you have any adverse reaction you do not use the product.
The Test
I will say this much you can apply the mask to your face using your fingers or a brush. I happened to use my fingers.
As you can see it’s black. it is a bit of a sticky consistency. it’s almost like molasses in a way. It is easy to wash off your hands. I also took care around my eyes. However, I forgot and got some on my eyebrows
You do feel it working as it dries. Per the directions, you can leave it on for 15 5o 20 minutes. I left it on for a little over 20 minutes for my first use. You feel it start to tighten as it dries. You may also feel it pulling the blackheads from your skin.
The End Results
After leaving the mask on for 20 minutes I went to peel it off.
As you can see when it dries it does change color a bit. I will admit peeling it off was a bit tricky at first but I made a few facial expressions to help crack a thinner layer of the mask and that’s how where I started to peel it off.
These were a few pictures I took after I peeled the mask off
It peels off in nice layers or sections depending on how thick you applied it. As you can see there are a few white spots on the mask.
As you can see it peeled off rather well. I did have a few stray spots but nothing too bad. I found my skin did feel better after I used this mask. My skin also felt smoother as well.
Oh yeah before I forget if you get any in your hair it washes out quickly.
I will post a full video review within the next few days. So be on the lookout for that.
I’d like to thank The Escentail Co. for this review opportunity.
