I thought I’d take the time to talk about Siamese mixes. These cats are wonderful. My Bowie was very loving and sweet. Yet he could be a bit impatient when it came to feeding time. He was a great protector of his little brother Shadow too.
They come in different varieties
Some Siamese mixes may have traditional Siamese color patterns. The black, chocolate face, paws, tail, and ears. They may also have a tan body.
Others might be like Bowie. he had a mask yet had white socks. He got both traits from Mom and Dad. He was T.J. and Stache’s baby.
Some Siamese mixes may not even look Siamese like Shadow or Zorro or even Ziggy. Poor Bowie was the odd one out in that litter.
They can be very affectionate
Bowie was one of the first kittens in the litter that I was able to pick up. He didn’t hiss at me or struggle. Once he was used to being held he would melt in your arms. He also liked attention. He was a lot like Teddy in that regard.
If i was paying attention to the other kittens he’d wander on over to get a pet too.
He wasn’t very demanding except when he was hungry.
they get along well with others
Bowie was Shadow’s caretaker when they were younger. He would keep him safe and call him to come eat. Once we adopted them he was still his voice. He would meow to request food or treats so they could eat together.
He was also very good at taking care of Winnie when she began to go play outside. He would keep her company.
He got along well with Teddy, Sam, and Dylan too. It didn’t matter if they weren’t his littermates he still loved them.
Granted this may vary from cat to cat and household to household.
They have unique voices
Some simple mixes have unique voices. Bowie had a bit of a high-pitched meow. He also didn’t have a full meow unless he was scared. He would sort of mew.
He did have a very strong purr though.
They may be prone to specific illnesses
No one likes to talk about the bad side of mixed-breed cats. But I found out with Bowie that some Siamese mixes may be prone to specific illnesses. Bowie passed away in April of 2022 due to liver disease. This seems to be an issue that can afflict all cats but may be more common among Siamese cats.
It was hard to part with Bowie but we gave him the best 10 months of his life. He got to spend it with his siblings and his parents. He was loved and cared for.
There may be one looking for a new home
Being that it’s kitten season in many areas there may be a kitten or even a cat that is looking for a new home.
Some may be a different coat pattern like Bowie while others may not be the traditional Siamese pattern. But they are out there looking for a loving home.
Siamese mixes bring a lot of love and joy into a home. If you can give one a home you won’t regret it.
