Today I pose the question: Should you drink and post on social media? You may be thinking that’s a funny thing to ask but over the weekend I saw a very interesting post that caught my attention.

I usually don’t follow petty drama on social media but over the weekend I saw a post from a friend that caught my attention.

I DM’d my friend about the issue and she shared a reel the creator has posted. You could tell the creator was visibly drunk and slightly slurring her speech as she ranted about her niche content.

It was a creator trying to call out people for not being a part of a set creator niche in her opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and feelings but when you have to resort to ranting on social media about how Beauty and Fragrances aren’t the same niche that’s a bit much. (This is more context on the subject I’m going to share about) .

This got me thinking should you drink and post on social media?

Liquid courage is real

I get that when people have a few drinks they may feel bolder or dare I say more courageous. But when you’re a content creator and you are the face of your brand you should think before you post.

It’s like posting when you are angry or have a disagreement with someone. You may come off as being annoyed or petty.

When you’re drunk and post a rant about your niche it can give off the wrong vibe. I will admit the creator’s stories or reels to me made her look foolish. You would have sworn she was Queen of Fragrances or something.

If someone is so worried that they will fail or be replaced by a larger creator in a niche then this is their problem, not the communities.

Just because it’s deleted doesn’t mean it wasn’t seen

I know Stores on Instagram are for 24 hours but they can be archived. I can only imagine how many views this creator’s drunken rant had. I can say I had no idea who this creator was before my friend pointed them out. I just happened to view their profile and I found she contradicted her rant. It appears she shares beauty, fashion, and fragrances. So I think her rant was just petty.

You will always have to apologize in the morning

Let’s face it sometimes people say things when they are drunk. Yet they will have to apologize for them in the morning. This not only makes you as a creator look bad but it may also hamper your brand appeal. I don’t think many brands want their PR or Ambassadors posting drunk videos.

I think it will also make creators look foolish. I think if you can’t post anything nice when you’re sober don’t post it when you’re drunk.
