Well, we’re in a new year and let’s face it sometimes we may be on a tighter budget than usual. This may vary from person to person along with what your holiday expenses might have been.
Even if you’re on a general budget at times shopping at a lower-priced store may fit your needs.
The appeal to shoppers
Every store has it’s unique attraction to shoppers. The 99 Cents Only Stores are no different. They have a majority of items that are 99 cents but products may be over 99 cents. That’s not a big deal. I will say most items that are over 99 cents are clearly labeled.
It adds up fast so beware
I try to buy things I’m going to use. I will admit it adds up fast when you think oh it’s only 99 cents. Before you know it you’re walking out the door with $50 worth of items. (Yes I’ve done this.) If you keep in mind to only buy what you need or what you can use that helps.
For me, some of the best things to buy at the 99 Cents Only Stores are listed below.
Go to buys
Paper goods
I like to buy paper towels for when I clean or am doing some sort of project. I don’t feel like I’m being wasteful by using a higher quality paper towel. Most of them are pretty good. I haven’t had many that fall apart while you’re using them.
Notebooks, Planners, and Calendars
These are always a great buy in my opinion. If you don’t need anything very sturdy or just to make quick notes they have products for 99 cents and up depending on the planner. Calendars are great because they are decent quality and they offer ones that have lovely photos. They also have desk calendars too.
Picnic and baking supplies
I like to purchase aluminum pans for when I work on certain crafts. They work great for paint pour or glitter projects. You can also (obviously) use them if you are going on a picnic or at home.
You can also pick up other items such as plates, cups and plastic silverware. These are useful for picnics and at home use.
Produce or food items
Some 99 Cents Only stores have produce as well as packaged food items. Now, these may vary from store to store. I can say that the produce at the stores near me can be a hit and miss. But if you arrive at the right time you may be able to find some great produce. You can’t really beat a bag of apples for 99 cents.
As for food items you can find a nice selection of products. Again this may vary by location. I’ve found some great tea over the last few months.
Other products you might not think of
The 99 Cents Only store sells a few products you might not think of. I’ve come across small rollers for painting and the foam rollers. These are great for small projects or crafts.
Craft items are great too. I purchased a large bag of popsicle sticks for you guessed it 99 cents. Today when I was there I saw they had foam shapes and stamps. They also have craft paper and drawing paper as well.
Plants are something I like to buy there too. I’ve found a few herbs for 99 cents that are twice as much anywhere else. The plants are doing well.
Some stores also sell beer and wine. This may vary from location to location but one of the stores near me has both. These products are usually over 99 cents.
Clearance is great
I’ve found a few things on clearance that I’ve bought. They still had a number of Christmas items for 50% off. I purchased some candy. 99 Cent Only stores also have a small area with clearance items so you never know what you might find.
So in short
If you stick to your plan of only buying what you need you should be able to stretch your dollar a bit further. If you’d like to learn more about the 99 Cents Only stores or find a location near you visit the link below
