I’ve been thinking a lot about this topic lately. It’s nothing new. We all have known someone who has fallen out of love at one time or another. This doesn’t always have to be strictly defined in a romantic sense. That being said it can be a surprising process, to say the least.

April 20th was Husband Appreciation day there is also a Wife Appreciation day as well. There is also an appreciation day for boyfriends and girlfriends too. That being shared I saw a number of posts via social media of those sharing how much they loved their spouse. Some were very heartfelt and others were (dare I say ) cheesy.

Okay the latter comment might be a snarky remark because I’m single. But still it always amazes me how people love to post overtly loving posts on social media. That’s wonderful and makes you look like the best spouse or partner ever. But then again it’s interesting when some couples fall out of love.

The declarations of love led me to think of the topic at hand. It’s surprising to see an emotionally charged I love my partner because of X. Then to see it change a few months or years later to I can’t stand them or even worse.

I even joked with my mom that people should chronicle select social posts to show how people may fall out of love. Granted this can happen due to many factors. But it caught my eye when you see posts that seem so sincere and personal. Then have them suddenly flip to be angry or hurtful.

Falling out of love isn’t something someone expects to do I assume. When you think of a relationship (Of any kind) you think it will last. Maybe that’s my idealized impression of love or my singlehood talking. But you still wonder how things take a turn. I often wonder if people keep posting positive updates in an effort to keep up appearances.

Falling out of love isn’t always something we expect to happen nor do we enjoy it but it is an interesting topic to talk about.
