@Regrann from @smithsonianzoo – #Squee The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute welcomed 3 endangered red panda cubs last month! Experienced mom Nutmeg had 2 cubs and first-time mom Moonlight had 1 cub. Although, just more than one month old the cubs still weighed less than 1 pound at their last weigh-in, which is normal. Scientists estimate that the wild population of red panda cubs has declined by 50 percent in the past 20 years. SCBI is working to build a genetically diverse population in human care. #WeSaveSpecies
