I don’t mind grocery shopping but lately, I’ve noticed a lot of things that seem to work my nerves. Maybe it’s just me and the fact that I’m getting older but I like to get in and out of a grocery store as quickly as possible.

I have a few pet peeves when it comes to fellow grocery shoppers I’ve noticed recently.

Gossip and shop person

I think we’ve all encountered these people. it seems like their conversation is more important than actually shopping.

I’ve noticed this is big among Latino shoppers. It drives me nuts. I don’t need to know about your brother-in-law’s health issues while you’re blocking my way to get eggs.

It’s even ten times worse when the person has their call on speaker phone. The entire produce department doesn’t need to know your business.

I’m not going to lie I’m nosy but when it comes to shopping for groceries I don’t need to hear someone’s life story while you block my way in every department I’m in.

The aisle blocker

This one never ceases to fail. This can happen in any aisle and but I’ve noticed it, especially at the ends or beginnings of aisles. It’s like their person wants to create a jam on purpose. Granted all grocery stores are different and the aisle sizes vary but not all of us are thin enough to get by.

I think it’s even worse when the person just blocks the way and gives you a dirty look when you say excuse me.

abandond carts

I see this often. Where someone just leaves their cart in an aisle or in a high traffic area. I understand as shoppers we tend ot forget things and have to back track but most times you should park your cart out of the way.

I’ve seen people just leave their carts in the middle of the produce department and the store staff has to move it to get by.

lack of manners

I don’t know if it’s just people being in a rush but I’ve seen ladies practally push each other out of the way just to get an item they wanted. I’ve had people practially run me down with their cart because I wasn’t moving fast enough.

I even once had a lady ram me with her cart as I was paying for my groceries because I wasn’t moving fast enough i guess.

I try my best to be polite to people when I’m out but I don’t like it when someone gives me a dirty look for trying to get around them.

blocking the Checkout/ bagging area

Some of the grocery stores near me have a self bagging area. So basiclaly think of Aldi but with a conveyor belt.

I don’t mind bagging my own groceries. I just get annoyed when people block the baggin area. I was at a local grocery store over the weekend and had this issue.
The store has a short conveyer and there were two people at the end of the counter. They were bagging their groceries on the second conveyor. Well it seemed that their phone calls were more important then actually moving.

I had to bag my items by putting my bags in the cart. They didn’t even notice me. Thankfully i didn’t have much but it does hold up the line.

i’ve also had people block the checkout line exit with their cart as well.
