For years I avoided red lipstick because I thought it was too bold. But over the last few years, I’ve come to embrace it. I like that it adds a pop of color. I love the red shade options as well from deep crimson to rose red.
Granted everyone’s body chemistry is different so the color may mellow or brighten depending on your lip pH.
Bullet Lipsticks
This is one of the popular types of lipstick. I love these because I can carry them on the go. I also feel I have more control when applying them.
Drug Store Brands
Let’s face it drug store brands can be as good or maybe even better than high-end brands.
1. e.l.f
I have an elf lipstick that I like. It’s not red but I like the coverage and color. The one I found was a Satin formulation.
e.l.f is budget-friendly at around $9 USD. (price may vary by retailer)
2. Maybelline
I’ve used Maybelline lipsticks over the years. I love the formulation and long wear. The Color Sensational Made for All Lipstick offers a nice red lipstick. It’s under $10 USD (price will vary by retailer.)
3. Milani
I have a Malini lipstick that I use once in a while. I like the formulation. The color is rich and deep. It has a decent wear time.
Milani has matte lipstick as well as their color statement matte lipstick (similar to the one I have.)
The lipsticks are $6 USD and up. (Price may vary by retailer.)
4. L”Oreal Paris
I’ve used a few L’Oreal products in the past. I loved one lipstick I tested a few years ago. It was the L’Oreal Paris age-perfect lipstick. The formulation was great and it was long wear. I tried 204 Spring Coral.
This lip color has changed a bit over the years. But they now offer one that has an added hydrating center.
These lipsticks range in price from $6 USD and up. (price will vary by retailer.)
L’Oreal Paris also offers their colour riche lipsticks as well. These lip colors are hydrating and long-lasting.
They range from $7 USD and up. (Price will vary by retailer.)
Liquid lipsticks
I’ll admit liquid lipsticks aren’t my favorite. They either cake on my lips or they are a runny mess. But I figured I’d add a few suggestions.
Drug Store brands
5. Maybeline
I’ve tried the Maybelline  Super Stay Vinyl Ink. I’ve gotten two samples I the past.
I will admit this product has a learning curve to it. It is a matte formulation so it dries down quickly.
Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink is around $10 USD (price may vary by retailer.)
Maybelline also makes Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink.
6. Milani
I haven’t tried a Milani liquid lipstick but they call it a lip gloss. it’s a matte formulation.
Amore Matte Lip Crème retails for around $10 USD (Price will vary by retailer.)
7. L’Oreal Paris
L’Oreal Paris makes Infallible Matte Resistance . I personally haven’t tried the product but the color range is nice and it’s another matte formula.
It’s priced at $10 USD and up. (price may vary by retailer.)
8. Revlon
Revlon makes  ColorStay Limitless Matte Liquid Lipstick. This lipstick is a matte formula.
It is priced at $10 USD (price may vary by retailer.)
Luxury brand lipsticks
I’ve tried two luxury brand lipsticks. They were well formulated and lasted a decent time.
9. Carolina Herrera Good Girl Maxi Glaze
This lipstick is great it’s compact and sleek. It offers a carrying case that allows you to carry your lipstick on a key chain.
The color is lovely. the formulation is hydrating and didn’t run too much. I’ve used it a few times now and love it.
I love the sleek design. The ability to carry your lipstick on a keychain is great if you travel.
Good Girl Maxi Glaze is around $33 USD. (Price may vary by retailer.)
10. La Perla
La Perla is very much a luxury band. I tried two products from them a few years back. I loved both of them. The lipstick was lovely and vivid.
The lipstick was 106 Venetian red. It’s a matte formulation but not drying on the lips. The lipstick had hydrating ingredients.
This lip color retails for around $56 USD. (Price will vary by retailer.)
