I recently was selected to try a new product on behalf of The Insiders. I’m no stranger to trying out food items for review. To be honest I like it because it helps me expand my brand knowledge. Occasionally it also allows me to shop where I usually don’t.

This is my first campaign with The Insiders so I was happy about it.

Product Overview

PAGODA offers a variety of Asian inspired foods. They have egg rolls and potstickers along with other items. When I was sent the Insiders email it stated that I had to purchase 2 products. I could mix the products. By this I mean buy two egg rolls of different flavors or just buy two of the same flavor. They offer Chicken and Pork egg rolls. The rolls are packed with veggies as well.

I purchased one of each. Id never even heard of PAGODA before so I was excited to be trying them. I happened to purchase them at my local Walmart Neighborhood Market.

What you get

Each box contains 8 egg rolls. They also have a 4 pack box as well. I was only able to find the 8 pack. The egg rolls are packed in a sealed plastic bag. I liked that box has a security sticker on it to keep everything closed. The box is sturdy but I wouldn’t suggest you leave it out in a warm place for too long. I will say that the egg rolls aren’t really frozen but they shouldn’t be left out too long in warm weather.

Cooking

PAGODA gives you a few options for cooking the egg rolls you can use the microwave, in the oven, or fry them. I opted to cook them in my toaster oven. If you chose to cook them this way my toaster oven held all 8 egg rolls with no issue. You just need to line a tray or the wire rack with foil. The instructions state to cook them at 425 degrees F for 22 to 24 mins. I left them in for a bit longer because I didn’t set the timer. You will need to turn them halfway through the cooking process.

The results

Overall I liked how the egg rolls turned out. They didn’t end up becoming soggy as the cooked. Nor did they become rubbery or tough as similar products can. I liked the size of the egg rolls as well. They were packed perfectly with a mix of meat and veggies. The flavoring was even and not too salty or bland.

As you can see from the photos above the egg rolls did brown and they didn’t seem to scorch or burn. The ends didn’t become brittle or hard. The egg rolls are a nice size and you can tell they are filled well.

The last photos show what the inside is filled with. The pork is blended with the veggie mix. So when you bite into it you get a burst of flavors.

My overall thoughts

I liked the egg rolls they would make a great snack. A great side dish (that’s how I used them). These would even be great for parties. I think I liked the pork egg rolls more than the chicken ones. I found the chicken ones to be a bit too peppery for my taste. This may have just been the batch I bought though. I liked that the rolls were easy to heat and didn’t require you to fry them. This is a plus if you’re trying to be a bit healthier.

Overall I was happy with the products and thought they were great. You can use them alone or add a dipping sauce.

Thanks again to The Insiders and PAGODA for this reviewing opportunity.
