I’ve used a few facial oils in the past. Mainly for cleansing the face. I have also used them as a moisturizer. I have tried castor oil, argan oil, and jojoba oil. I think they all have their pros and cons.

This being said let me share two new oils I have tried recently. The facial oils mentioned were free samples.

Facial oil #1

The first facial oil I’d like to talk about is sold by Botanics. Once again this was a free sample I was sent for reviewing and testing purposes. I was sent a full-size bottle.

I wasn’t familiar with Botanics but they are part of the Boots company. The oil came in a glass container. It is very lightweight and smells like lemon. I didn’t use it much when it arrived because we were having a bit of a heat wave still in my area. I did find that it absorbed quickly into the skin and left my face feeling hydrated.

Being that I have dry skin I always worry wonder how well facial oils will absorb into it. This one as I mentioned before worked just fine. It also has rose hip in it so it leaves your face with a bit of a glow to it. If your face is very wet when you apply it you will have a bit of an oily barrier until it evaporates.

All in all, I found this product to be great for my skin. I have been using it in the mornings. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated for most of the day.

According to Botanics, it can be used for all skin types.

This product is sold at a variety of retailers I happened to find a link from Ulta Beauty

Facial oil #2

The second facial oil I’d like to share sold by Elemis. Again I’d never heard of this company before. But I came across a free sample offer and figured it was worth a try.

This is one of their new products and it’s called Superfood Facial oil. It has a wonderful scent. it smells a bit like rosemary, with another scent I can’t quite place. It coats your skin well. It is also fast absorbing.

I’ve been using this one in the evening and found that my face feels hydrated all night long. It has also softened my skin a bit as well.

Pros and Cons of Facial Oils

As I mentioned before facial oils can half pros and cons. This may vary from person to person but here’s a quick list of what I found.

Pros

  • Facial oils can help improve your skin
  • They can help keep your skin hydrated
  • Some may even improve your skin texture. Such as softening it or helping sooth dry patches.

Cons

  • Depending on your skin type facial oils may cause more issues.
  • These products may not absorb as quickly as you like depending on the weather.
  • You may feel that your skin is oilier then it was before you used the product.

All in all, i think facial oils are worth a try. Be it for cleansing your skin or to help hydrate your skin. Like with any product individual results will vary.

Share your thoughts on facial oils I’d love to hear them.
