Derma-E Activated Charcoal Products:A great skincare routine addtion

As I’ve posted in the past Derma-E has been nice enough to collaborate with me in sharing many of their great products. I’d like to take the time out and thank them for allowing me this great opportunity.

The Box

I’m always excited when I receive a Derma-E box. I never know when one will arrive so it’s a nice surprise. 

This box happened to contain two of their latest products. It also came with a very nice note card sharing a bit about the items in the box. 

The Products

Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask

This is a basic purifying mask that has activated charcoal in it. I know activated charcoal is the new rage for skincare. I was very eager to try it. 

This was just to show you that the tube was sealed.

Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel Extract*, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate (Coconut Derived), Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Microcrystalline Cellulose (Plant Derived), Cellulose Gum (Plant Derived), Charcoal Powder, Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Wakame, Kimarine®) Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium (Canadian Willowherb™) Extract, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract*, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Purifying Gel Cleanser

This is a general gel cleanser. Again it includes activated charcoal. 

Once again this was just to show you the tube was sealed. 

Ingredient list 

Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Gel Extract*, Kaolin (Clay), Bentonite (Clay), Glycerin (Vegetable Derived) , Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Powder, Charcoal Powder, Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Wakame, Kimarine®) Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium (Canadian Willowherb ™) Extract, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract*, Menthyl Lactate, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

The Tests

You can use these products together or separately. I have been trying them together. 

Gel Cleanser 

The gel cleanser looks black but once applied ot the face it is a bit clear. 

You apply it to a wet face and lather. It is gentle enough that you can use it daily. You can also use it in the morning and evening. 

Here’s a picture of what it looked like when I used it. 

It was easy to use and I didn’t notice any types of irritation or adverse skin reactions during my first use. I also thought it gave me a bit of a tingling sensation. 

It rinses clean and left my face feeling fresh. I tend to have dry skin as the weather changes. I was happy my face didn’t feel rough or dried out. 

Purifying Mask

After I dried my face I used the purify mask

This mask can be used once to twice a week depending on your needs. As you can see it’s gray in color. Also, a small amount goes a long way. I think I used a bit too much on m first test. 

You apply it to a moist face. The mask takes roughly about 5 minutes to dry. Drying time may vary. 

This was after I applied it. I did feel a tingling sensation and  I did feel a bit of the mask hardening quickly in certain spots. Once again I didn’t experience any adverse effects during my first use. 

Once the mask dries it looks like this.

As you can see some spots weren’t completely dry but that was fine with me. Most of the important areas were. 

Now to remove this mask you may want to use a washcloth. DERMA-E suggest you moisten your fingertips and remove it in a circular motion. 

I just hopped in the shower and rinsed it off. It washed off my face well. If you happen to get some in your hair it also rinses off quickly. 

My Thoughts

I can say my face felt smoother and my skin looked better after using these two products.Neither of them dried out my face or caused any irritation. 

I liked that they are easy to use along with the fact that they include natural ingredients. 

They are a gentle way to cleanse my face that doesn’t leave m skin feeling parched or like sandpaper when I’m finished.
