I was selected by Home Tester Club to test and review a free sample from Neutrogena. Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Whipped Body Balm is a unique product. I hadn’t tried a body care product in the Hydro Boost line before.
This product was previously sold in a jar now it seems to be available in a tube.
The product
Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Whipped Body Balm is a unique product. It’s a whipped body balm so it has an unusual feel and texture. I will admit my product was delivered on a very hot day (over 100 F degrees). So the temperature may have changed the product texture and feel a bit.
The body balm is thick so a small amount goes a long way. It also has a light blue tint to it. There is a standard fragrance to it as well. It also includes Hylauronic Acid so it may plump and smooth your skin as well.
It’s stated to help dry to extra dry skin. You can apply daily or when needed.
INGREDIENTS (source Neutrogena product page)

User expereince
When the body balm arrived I tested it on my hand. I liked that a small amount goes a long way. I also felt that it was thick and being whipped it had an airy feel to it. It also melted into the skin quickly. My skin didn’t look too shiny or oily.
The body balm absorbed quickly. It didn’t leave my skin feeling oily or greasy. Yet I did feel hydrated. Since the body balm is a whipped texture it take a bit of getting used too.
I’ve used the product on some of my most driest areas such as my legs, and heels. Well I can say that the product hydrates at first yet I had an interesting result.
Since the product was delivered during a high-temperature day I think my sample may have separated a bit.
Here’s what I noticed
I noticed that after applying the body balm my skin felt smooth and soft. Yet a little while later it began to feel dry. When i tried it on my dry heels it seemed to dry my skin out even further. I was even wearing socks so it was like it absorbed into my skin only to dry it out. I will admit i noticed this after applying the product the first time but I figured maybe it was just that my hands were dry from washing my hands so much.
For me, the excessive drying may have been due to the Isopropyl Palmitate (EWG info). I’ve used other products with this ingredient in the past and have had the same result my skin feels okay after i use them but suddenly dry out hours later.
I also found that since it has glycerin in it i felt like i had a film on my hands or body. My hands felt a bit greasy even after applying the body balm.
As far as the scent goes it’s a standard one. I didn’t feel it was too strong but i know some people have scent sensitivities
Besides that it did hydrate or plump my skin but I didn’t find it to be extremely moisturizing.
Final thoughts
Overall Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Whipped Body Balm is a unique product I don’t think it’s for me. Like with any product individual results may vary. I’m thinking the product may have separated do to being shipped on a hot day. But i can’t say for certain.
I can say I don’t think I would purchase this product for myself. Once again this is my experience yours may be different.
The tube retails for $7.99 USD. I found it via Neutrogena.
Thanks to Home Tester Club and Netrogena for this product testing and reviewing opportunity.
I also found the product sold in a jar via Amazon.
