Now that I covered free video editors I thought I’d share with all of you a few paid versions. You can read my first post on video editors here. As i also shared in the first post many free versions have an upgrade or pro version. So let’s start with those.
For instance Movie Maker has a pro version that is around $10. (prices may vary)
VSDC video editor also has ao ve pro version as well. It’s around $20 (prices may vary)

Are paid versions worth it?

Well to me paying for a video editor is up to you. I liked having the ability to use more tools such as having more title options. Or the ability to trim a video or speed a video up. Again this is all personal preference. This also may depend on how much video editing you’ll be doing as well. One thing I can suggest is to try downloading a free trial version of a video editor to test out before you buy it. I did this while i was trying to find one i liked. Most of the trials last around 14 days or some are by X amount of uses. This allows you to develop your familiarity with the user interface. You can also see right off the bat what the pros and cons are of each program.

Video editors vary in price along with features. Some of the more advanced editors can cost upwards of a few hundred dollars. Now I think that’s a bit much if you’re starting off to edit a video for YouTube or for a project. If you are in the video editing field i can see the need for it. But if your going to just be editing a vlog post or something to share via social media the video editors in this list will be a good place to start. Some of the more advanced editors may be a bit daunting to learn if you’re a beginner.

Filmora (Wondershare)

I will admit when I was testing out video editors I ended up buying three. Why? you might ask. Well, I wasn’t found that some had better features than others. I also liked that some had better titles or text features too. I also just realized that one of the editors i purchased Iskysoft Video Editor has now become Filmora. So i guess the laughs on me right.

Filmora layout

I like filmora because the overall price point won’t break the bank. It also allows you to upload your video straight to YouTube or a variety of devices. I also like it’s easy to use interface (I’ll get into that more when I post a video review). I also like that all updates are free. It does have a few cons but I’ll get to those in a second.

Overall the layout is easy to use and it allows you to use a light or dark theme. You can record video, voice or your screen too. It offers a variety of preinstalled titles and colors. It also has fonts and uses standard windows fonts as well. I’ve even been able to download fonts and see them show up in the font list too. I’m still learning about some of the features. I like that when there is a new update you get an alert when you open the program.

Now let’s get to the cons. If you’d like to add certain title packs and elements you will have to pay extra. You can pay for the ones you’d like. They also offer a few free ones too. You can find out more about more by visiting the Effect Store. I paid for a year subscription to download any additional titles I wanted to try out. Besides that, I can’t really find another con at this time.

Video Pad (NCH software)

Video pad is a great software I loved it until I had some hangups with it. Like most video editors it offers all the needed features such as titles, trim, voice over etc. It also had video and audio effect too. I loved that it uploaded videos to Youtube in no time flat.  It allows you to drag and drop images, video, audio etc into your timeline.

Video Pad layout

One of the major cons I found with Video pad was the price point. I bought it when it was on sale. (FYI as of the date of me writing this 9/20/2018 It’s on sale again.) It usually retails for around $99 (Master Editor which is the one I bought). They also have a lower priced Home Editon that has full features but limits the number of audio tracks.

Another con I found was software updates. If there is a new update within 3 months of your purchase it’s free. After that, you have to pay a discounted rate for an update. I did that once and after that said forget it. I didn’t find that the update added anything new to the software in my opinion anyway.

Other Options

As I mentioned above there are more advanced video editors out there. I downloaded a few when I was doing my research. I found that they were very advanced for me to try to figure out. There are subscription-based plans such as Adobe Premiere There is also this plant by Sony There is also Vegas which is a stand-alone software.

I will admit the software mentioned above is out of my skill level so it’s safe to say you can research them and see which would fit your needs if you are an advanced video editor.

I hope these suggestions helped and I’ll be posting some videos sharing a bit more about Filmora soon.
