Not long ago I shared about a few natural deodorants I’d been trying. You can read the original post here. One of the ones I included was Native. This small sample was sent to me in Pinchme box a few weeks ago. it’s an interesting scent. It’s Coconut & Vanilla.
A quick side note
Granted if you are switching or testing out a new deodorant especially one that is aluminum free you will need time to adjust to it. I’d also like to note that this may not keep you dry like a commercial deodorant will. But everyone takes time to adjust to new products I’m just trying to get that out in the open before I move on.
My user experience
To be honest I was a bit hesitant about the scent combination of this product. I figured since it had coconut it would have more of a tropical flair to it. Which i was right it did. I thought the small sample was a good size because it allowed me to try it without having to commit to a full-size product. After it arrived i was happy with the scent.
Now that I’ve used it a bit more I can say that it is different. It glides on to your skin smoothly. It may take you a bit to get used too> Since it does contain coconut your underarms may feel damp. I did notice that this deodorant conditioned my skin as an added bonus. It didn’t stain my clothes or leave any residue on them either. The overall color is a bit of a beige to light tan.
Here’s the ingredient list (Source native.com)
Ingredients
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tapioca Starch, Ozokerite, Sodium Bicarbonate, Magnesium Hydroxide, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cyclodextrin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dextrose, Lactobacillus Acidophilus
Final Thoughts
The overall scent combination seemed to blend well with my own body chemistry. I was left smelling like a rank tropical fruit salad. I did notice that the coconut scent lingered throughout the day. I will admit I didn’t find it to be very good at keeping me dry. Again this may be that I still need to adjust fully to the product.
All in all, this was an interesting product to use. I wouldn’t mind trying a few of their other scents in the sample or travel size form to see how they compare to this one. I did like that it wasn’t packed with a ton of chemicals. I also liked that it was made in my own home state of California. The price point is about average for a natural deodorant. It’s priced at around $12 (USD). If this is something you’d like to try I suggest you try the sample or travel size product first.
