I’ve tried a number of lipsticks over the years and I thought I’d share a few that I’ve used with in the past few months or even years. I’m always looking for a new lipstick even if it’s a sample to see how I like it.
Liquid lipsticks
Liquid lipsticks or stains come in many different formulations. Some may be glossy or matte or some may even be scented. For me liquid lipsticks are a hit or miss. To be frank I’m not a fan of matte lipsticks in any form because my lips are on the dry side. That being shared some matte formulas dry out my lips even further. I also find liquid lipsticks to be a bit tricky to apply. Some may be a bit thick while others may be a bit runny. Some may also have large applicators or angled ones.
I also tend to have the issue of bleeding with liquid lipsticks. So again for me it’s a bit of a hit or a miss.
Liquid lipsticks you may like
Joah Wat-a-matte Matte Liquid Lipstick
This was a free sample I was able to claim thanks to Poshly. JOAH is a Korean beauty brand and I was introduced to it thanks to the sample.
The JOAH lip color was shade Pink Smoothie.
Like with any new lipstick I’m never too sure what the color will look like until I apply it to my lips. I have a tendency to have some lip shades turn bright pink or red. It may depend on the original color. Being that the shade was pink i figured it would probably turn brighter on my lips.
It did turn a bit lighter once applied. This lipstick also has a very floral almost rose petal scent as well. I’m not sure if all the products are scented but this one is.
I can say I liked that it was easy to remove but it was a matte formula so it may dry or possibly harden if you apply too much.
To be honest I wasn’t all that fond of the floral scent so I removed the product after I was done sharing the photos.
L’Oreal Rouge Signature
I was able to request this sample a few weeks back. It’s a matte formulation. The color I was sent was 440 I Choose
The lipstick has a slight coconut scent to it. It’s very easy to apply and didn’t seem to dry instantly.
The shade looked a bit red or possibly berry when I applied it to my wrist. When I applied it to my lips it did change color a bit. But it’s still with in that shade range.
In terms of wear time this one was about average. I liked that it didn’t dry out my lips too much. I also liked that it didn’t stain them either.
OFRA Flexi Slick
This was a product I was selected to review a few weeks back. I’d never tried OFRA products before so I was excited. The shade I was sent is STRETCH. I liked that this formulation is hydrating and as OFRA states it’s a “Hybrid lippie”. This means it has hydration but still offers a matte style formulation. That’s my interpretation of the term.
STRETCH is a nude shade so when I applied it to my wrist it looked like it was more of a light brown or even a coco color. When I applied it to my lips however it was a bit too nude for my skin tone. I thought anyway.
The lipstick has a rich coco butter scent.
SEPHORA COLLECTIONCream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick
This was another sample request. I wasn’t sure what the shade would look like when applied. The shade is 84 Rose Redux.
in the tube it looks a bit dark but once applied it looks a bit lighter.
Applied to my hand the color looked a bit more redish.
When it dried I could see it was a bit more matte.
Now that I applied it to my lips I think it was a bit too matte for me. It’s creamy yet I wasn’t too fond of the formulation.
It’s a bit hard to tell in the photo but i felt that it settled into the lines in my lips.
Tube Lipsticks
I tend to favor tube lipsticks because for me I’m just used to them. I also feel like I have more control when applying them. I do tend to have bleeding but it’s not as bad as when I use a liquid lipstick.
L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Satin Lipstick with Precious Oils
This was also a product I was able to review for free. I liked the tube it was simple yet elegant. The color shade is 204 Spring Coral
When I saw the lip color I thought it was going to be a bit too red for me.
Applied to my hand it still seemed a bit red.
I wore the lipstick for the day back in February. I liked the overall formulation and it wasn’t drying to the lips. It didn’t smear or smudge much either.
The lipstick held up well for the day. It had an average wear time depending on how much you eat or drink you may need to reapply. Overall I liked the shade it was a nice coralish pink.
YSL ROUGE VOLUPTÉ SHINE OIL-IN-STICK
This was a sample from a year or so ago. The product was unique because it was a tube lipstick that had oils in it. I was very surprised by the color. It was a bright or hot pink.
I didn’t notice until after I opened the tube that the lipstick had broken during transit. I also found that since it was delivered during high temperatures it was a bit oily. I figured the lipstick had separated a bit.
On my lips it was still very bright pink. I had also worn it a few days later and found that it was hydrating thanks to the extra oils but the color didn’t seem to be as bright.
This sample also had a lovely scent of mango.
It was a nice lipstick but I felt it didn’t hold up well in warm temperatures.
Honorable mentions
Wander Beauty
There are two products I’d like to add. I would like to say that Wander Beauty Cloud 9 mini lipstick set is worthwhile.
It also happens to be on sale as well.
Which one is right for you?
This will be up to you and your overall preference when it comes to lipsticks. I prefer tube lipticks with a satin or creamy formula. I can pull a matte lip off but sometimes I feel that it just enhances the links of my lips.
But as we know everyone has their own style and preferred lipstick type. You can visit the links provided to learn more about the products shared.
