Life with an Orange Tabby is a trip

Orange tabbies always have a reputation. They are either quoted to have one brain cell or are very feisty.

Sophie got the latter.

Most orange tabbies are male

On average most orange tabbies are male. If you have a female tabby they are like a unicorn. People marvel at that fact. I saw a Youtube video that stated on average it’s like 20% of orange tabbies are female.

The male orange tabbies I had met in the past were very loving. They had one at a veterinary office I used to go to. He would take a dive at the pet carrier to greet the pets. His name was Pumpkin.

Their color and coat pattern ranges

not all orange tabbies are the same. Some may be a lighter orange while others are very bright. Sophie was a vibrant orange when she was a kitten. Now her coat ranges from a lighter orange to a bright orange during the summer.

Their coat pattern may vary as well. From a swirl to a dots.

Sophie has a swirl pattern. She has an oval on her sides.

They can be loving or feisty

Many orange tabbies can be very loving or maybe a bit feisty. Sophie is a mix of both at times. Her dad was a very large orange tabby that roamed the neighborhood where she was born.

She does enjoy showing the boys whose boss. But they still respect her.

Some orange cats may be considered dumb as well. But I think this may vary by the cat.

Sophie loves attention. She likes to photobomb some of my photos as well.

they can live a long time

I think this may vary by the cat. But so far Sophie will be 16 years old coming July 4th. She’s enjoyed a good life and loves to go outside and visit the garden.

one thing I have noticed that she’s gotten older is that she’s been a picky eater. So I’ve found a few things she does like to eat.

She loved the delectables treats.

No matter what your orange tabbies temperament is they fill your home with love and laughter. They are a trip to own.
