I was recently selected to try a free sample product on behalf of Home Tester Club and the brand Kathy Kaye Foods. I wasn’t familiar with this brand but I’m always open to trying new foods. The package arrived last week and I was eager to test it out.

The product

I was selected to be sent a 12 pack of Kathy Kaye Foods popcorn balls. They are packed in a Halloween style bag. To be honest i don’t eat popcorn balls that much. I wondered if they would be a bit stiff since they were shipped. I also wondered if the popcorn would be dry too.

I posted this via Instagram the day it arrived.

Product tasting

Overall as I said earlier I eat popcorn but don’t eat popcorn balls. I’ve had them in the past but they were dry and some were a bit hard. That being shared I was surprised by these Kathy Kaye Foods ones.

I was impressed by the size of the popcorn balls. they are about the size of an orange i would think. I also liked that they were sweet but not overly so. The biggest take away for me was that the popcorn was fresh. I will admit it did smell abit like a rice cake when I opened it but when i bit into the popcorn it was flavorful.

It flaked off a bit as I bit deeper into it. I liked that the popcorn held together. It also wasn’t stale or too dense. I didn’t feel like I was eating Styrofoam. The popcorn also wasn’t so hard that I worried about chipping a tooth or break any of my dental work.

I would suggest that you may want to cut the popcorn ball in half if would make it easier to eat. That’s just my take on it.

My dad had one and he loved it. Being that the portion size is decent I would think one popcorn ball would be a filling snack.

To me the popcorn ball tasted like kettle corn. It was lightly sweetened. The sweetness was even and not too artificial. It also didn’t have an aftertaste either.

Final thoughts

Overall the Kathy Kaye Foods popcorn balls were flavorful. They were easy to eat. Yet I would say if your going to share this with a younger child you may want to cut it into pieces.

I will say that the portion size is hearty. I think these would be a great treat for a party or to share with others. These would be perfect for Halloween.
