So back in June, I shared that I had picked up my Sephora rewards birthday gift. Like usual Sephora allows you to pick from two gift options. I figured I’d try the Drunk Elephant products to see if they were worth the hype.

Here’s my original Instagram post.

Being that I tend to be a skincare hoarder I figured I’d take the time to finish up a few products before trying out these samples. Well, last night 10/21/19 I finally got around to trying them out.

What the set includes:

the Protini™ Polypeptide Cream and a tube of Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser

Trying these out

Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser

Since I had done some Halloween makeup looks I figured the Beste No. 9 Jelly cleanser would be a great product to test out. Since the tube states, you can use it to remove makeup why not right?

full face of makeup

as you can see from the photo above i had makeup on (obviously) along with some highlighter as well. I followed the directions on the tube which state to apply some Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser to your hands and add water. I was surprised that the cleanser had a twist top option. I was expecting to take the top off to dispense the cleaner.

The cleanser is clear and a bit thick. Once you work water into it foams nicely. I applied to my face and took care around my eyes. I will admit i did apply a small around to my eyelids just to see how it worked on mascara and eye shadow. The tube states to keep it out of your eyes by the way.

The end result

I was surprised at how well the Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser removed my makeup. It dissolved it away without leaving my skin feeling dry or dehydrated. I did have a small amount of eye shadow that i had to remove from my lower lid but that’s no big deal. As we know I don’t think any cleanser will remove all makeup.

a better look after using Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser

Overall I found the Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser cleanser to work well with my skin. As I stated it didn’t leave it feeling dry or tight. I didn’t notice that the cleanser had any type of scent either

Protini™ Polypeptide Cream

I used the Protini™ Polypeptide Cream after I got out of the shower. I lightly dried my damp face before applying it. I liked the consistency and the feel of the cream in my hand.

overall it is a bit thick but once you work it into your palms it softens and melts a bit. I applied it to my face and found that it added a layer of hydration.

Surprising results

I found that when I woke up this morning my skin still felt hydrated. It didn’t feel rough or dry. I didn’t start to feel my face start to feel dry or dehydrated until about 10 o’clock or so. So for me, that’s pretty good. I applied the Protini™ Polypeptide Cream before 7:30 pm or so that night.

Final thoughts

Now is Drunk Elephant worth the hype? I would think so. This may vary from user to user like usual. I would also say that the price point for these products is out of my usual skincare budget so it would be considered a splurge purchase. The Protini™ Polypeptide Cream retails for $68 (USD) for a 1.69 fl oz jar. The Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser retails for $32 (USD) for a 5 fl oz tube.

For being my first experience trying Drunk Elephant I can say it wasn’t too bad. Aside from the sticker shock but I understand some skincare is pricey. I’m just glad I didn’t have any adverse reactions or redness after using either product.

Like usual I can say it was nice to be able to try something new. The products can be found at various retailers. Visit the links in the post for full info.
