Back in July, I had a package arrive from Top Box. I had been chosen to test a Dove Men+Care product. I didn’t know what it was but soon found out once I opened the box.
I was sent a deodorant. I figured I’d give it a try it wasn’t what I would have considered a masculine scent. It was more on the mellow citrus side.
The product
The deodorant is Fresh Scent. It’s sort of citrusy. It is an aluminum-free deodorant as well. According to the label, it may keep you dry for up to 72 hours.
I never really take those claims to heart.
I was sent a 3 oz product.
According to Dove’s product page, the scent is described as the following:
Long-lasting citrus scent of bergamot, lavender and sandalwood

The package is a standard twist-up bottom plastic container. This is a stick deodorant that is a white shade.

Dipropylene Glycol, Water (Eau), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Stearate, Poloxamine 1307, Fragrance (Parfum), Stearic Acid, Disodium Edta, Bht, Simethicone, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool.
User experience
To be fair I haven’t had the best experience using Aluminum free deodorant in the past but I figured I’d give it a try. When I originally tested the product it was mid-summer so it was hot. That being said let’s talk about how the product worked for me.
The deodorant is a stick that is white yet it’s like a gel solid. It’s not a traditional white solid stick.
The scent was a bit stronger when I originally tried it. it wasn’t overwhelming it was just noticeable. When I applied it the first time I noticed it didn’t leave any white residue on my skin. This may vary by how much you apply. But for me, it applied clear.
If you sweat a lot…
If you are someone who sweats a lot or sweats easily this may not work for you. I noticed that even with minimal activity for me in high heat 90 plus degrees it didn’t seem to keep me fully dry. Again I note that it’s aluminum-free.
The scent lasted but eventually faded or at least mellowed.
So in short you will need to reapply this deodorant if you are someone who sweats heavily or easily.
Thankfully for me, I didn’t have any adverse reactions or skin irritation nor did I end up smelling like a sun-baked fruit salad.
I was hoping for a better result since I do tend to get heated quickly and sweat when stressed or during warmer months. Or when I’m in a warmer environment.
I can’t flat out say the product wasn’t good but I think I’ll use it now during the fall.
I have used the deodorant a few times since the original use and found it was okay but still could do better at keeping me dry or odor-free.

Final thoughts and where to buy
Overall the Dove Men + Care deodorant was decent. I liked that it didn’t cause me any skin irritation or adverse reactions. I just wish it had been more effective. The scent was nice and wasn’t too strong. If you are looking for an aliumnum-free deodorant give this one a try.
