I’ve shared about T.J. the Siamese a few times in the past. He was a cat my neighbor started feeding and he became one of the residents Tom’s of my neighborhood.
My neighbor thought he was abandoned because he was full-grown when we started to see him around. He used to chase after Sophie and Rocket even though they were both fixed.
I spent many a day shooing him away when he would start to fight.
His health troubles
T.J. was pretty healthy for being a street cat. He had his fair share of battle scars that’s for sure but they were never so bad that we had to trap him so we could treat his injuries.
Well, this changed back in 2022. He developed an abscess in or around his mouth. This led to my neighbor taking him into to our local cat hospital. While he was there they found out that due to the severity of the abscess, he was going to need these teeth removed.
The vet had also aged him at around 10 years old ( still think he’s older).
So he had all his teeth pulled. He was away from home for about a week or two. When he came home he was happy to visit us and get pets.
Earlier this year he developed a severe respiratory infection. My neighbor took him back to the cat hospital.
He was treated for his infection and kept for further testing.
T.J. went into the hospital at the end of February and it’s now early September.
During his six-month stay at the cat hospital, my neighbor was able to have him neutered and they discovered T.J. had a thyroid problem.
Here’s the update
My neighbor let me know that T.J. was going to be adopted and rehomed. It’s sad to hear that he wasn’t going to come back home. But in the end, it was for the best.
It seems one of the employees of the cat hospital was sharing about T.J. with her sister. Her sister had lost her cat earlier this year. So they asked if T.J. could be adopted.
It’s nice to know that after all his years living on the street, he will have a real home. He will become an indoor cat due to his thyroid issue. He has to be given his medication on a daily basis.
The best part is that he won’t be alone anymore. He’ll finally have all the love he deserves. His new owner will give him the best home she can.
The cat hospital even surprised my neighbor after all the months of care they provided everything pro bono. My neighbor was shocked but still left them a donation.
It’s sad
It’s sad to see him go but I was left with the best gifts he could leave us. We have Teddy, Dylan, Ziggy, and Zorro.
He was also the father of the late Bowie and Shadow.
I’ll miss him
I’d grown fond of T.J. over the years he was a part of my daily life. But I’m happy he finally found a forever home and will be loved.
I’m also happy he’ll be able to live out his days in comfort.
