I had a new UPS package delivery scam text today. It arrived at 2 a.m. I of course didn’t see it until later.
As we know UPS delivery scam texts aren’t anything new. This one was a bit longer than usual but it could have fooled someone if they didn’t read it fully.
The text
The sender
This like many of the scam texts I’ve been sent lately is from an email address.
This email address was the following:
ups973e@banyuticb.onmicrosoft.com
Can you spot the tell-tell signs this is a fake email address from UPS? If you can great. If not I’ll point them out later.
The text message
The text message was a bit longer than usual so I had to use two screenshots to display the full message.
The message looks auto-generated because it was what could have been multiple messages in one.

Kind Regard,
How is this a scam?
This is a Phishing scam. I assume
The text is definitely not from UPS because it doesn’t have a UPS-specified text number or email address.
You can see these on this UPS page.
One big sign that this is a scam is the way the text message started off. It had a random series of letters of letters.
BLRWIEKBEFNIUJC.
This is not a typical UPS tracking number. Most if not all UPS tracking numbers have a 1Z followed by a series of numbers.
What you can do
You can send this text if it has a text number to 7726 (SPAM). You can learn more about this here.
You can also report the spam text to your service provider and block the number if the service is offered.
Always reach out to the shipping company or check your account (if you have one) to see if the text message is valid. Also double check the sender’s information as well.
Don’t fall for these scams they can be costly.
