Yesterday while I was vacuuming up pine needs it struck me that during this time of year many of use get so wrapped up in the holiday season (forgive the pun). We get so busy with the Β holiday gatherings and events that we may forget about our pets. I know we donβt mean to but during this time of year there seees to be more hazards for them.Β
Having had a dog as a kid and now having cats as an adult you donβt realized how hazardous the holiday season can be. I honestly never really thought about it until I came across a few articles via the ASPCAβs website that list a number of holiday hazards to pets. I will list a few links below.
Hazards come in many forms from Poinsettias to Tinsel. If you have a curious cat(s) like I do make sure to place breakable Β ornaments higher up on the Christmas tree or invest in shatter proof ones. I also found that covering the tree stand with a sheet helps deter my cats from from trying to drink from it.Β
Holiday foods can also be a hazard. I know that any food that has a sugar substitute in it can make dogs sick Β if it they eat it.Β
Hereβs some links you may find helpful. Feel free to any comments or tips you have to keep your pets safe during this holiday season.
