I don’t know about anyone else but I never knew there were pressure cooker meals. I will admit I don’t eat many frozen meals so that may be why. Well, when I had the chance to try a free sample product I was excited.
I was introduced to Tiller & Hatch for this food experiment (if we can call it that). They have a variety of products that can be made in a pressure cooker.
The meal
I tried the FARFALLEWITH MARSALA SAUCE AND CHICKEN meal. It includes chicken, pasta and mushrooms. It also has tomato as well. As far as I could tell this is currently available at Walmart. I picked this one up at my local Walmart Neighborhood Market. You can find it near you here.
Like most frozen meals you will need to thaw the product for a few minutes before cooking it. It doesn’t need to be fully dethawed but the package does include two flavor packets that need to be thawed so you can use them. I’ll get more to that in a minute. Cooking info
The back of the packet gives you a very easy to follow cooking instructions. I hit a bit of a snag but I’ll get to that in a minute.
Remember the snag i mentioned earlier. Well, this pressure cooker meal is meant more for Instapots or multicookers or pressure cookers with a digital panel. It lists that you press the MEAT/STEW setting.
My pressure cooker is this a Wolfgang Puck one that only has 15-minute intervals for cooking time.
I still figured I’d try the recipe as it was stated. Granted I had to estimate the 6 minutes since it has a turn knob but I’ll show the results further down in the post.
Let’s get cooking
So as I mentioned the steps are pretty simple. It’s not very labor-intensive nor is it very difficult to prepare.
The frozen meal includes pasta, chicken, and mushrooms as I mentioned. There are also two flavor packets in the bag. I found the second one when I emptied the bag into the pressure cooker. You can add one flavor packet or both it’s up to you.
On a side note, the package calls for 20 oz of water. So I just used two bottles of bottled water. If you need to thaw the flavor packet it quickly places it in a bowl of warm water (not hot) for a few minutes. You will need to thaw the flavor pack enough to add it to the water.

Cooking time
As I mentioned above the cooking time is state to be 6 minutes if you have an Instapot or digital pressure cooker. I estimated my cooking time to under 10 minutes. I placed the lid on the pressure cooker and set the timer. The cooking instructions also suggest you let the pressure cooker rest for a few minutes after it’s done cooking. It states to wait 5 minutes. Again many pressure cookers vary so you may have to wait less time you may have to wait a bit longer.
The end result
So my pressure cooker has a vent to release the pressure and steam. I opened it a minute before the cooker was done. While it vented I went about my usual routine. Once it was fully vented I removed the lid. The first thing I noticed was that the pasta was fully cooked. It didn’t look too mushy or soupy.
I took a wooden spoon and stirred the food a bit. I was happy that the sliced chicken stayed intact as well. It didn’t flake or break up.
I served some in a bowl so I could taste test it and see if everything was fully cooked.
I will admit since the food was still very hot it did look a bit soggy. Once it cooked it looked a bit better. I found that it was packed with flavor. I also liked that it wasn’t too salty.
I was very happy that the pasta didn’t burn. I was also happy that the sauce didn’t didn’t scorch. I found that it didn’t stick ot the pressure cooker pot either. It made for easy cleanup.
