In the prior post, I shared about how I opted to use Gleam for my giveaways. Well, today I’d like to share the reason why. Aside from the fact that you can set up a free account that is very versatile. I’d like to share more about the site and ease of use in general.
Just a reminder that some sharing tools or even addition tools may require a plan upgrade. To view their pricing and plan options you can click here.
once you create your account you are taken to a very easy to read dashboard.
The thing I liked right off the bat is that it gives you a walkthrough on how to create a competition widget. You are able to label your post by how you’d like to share it. Mine is still labeled YouTube Giveaway because that’s the last competition or campaign I created. When viewing the step by step guide it outlines what Gleam has to offer in terms such as social shares and ways you can post your giveaway as well.
Here’s an example.
As you can see from the image it gives you the option for a landing page (URL) or you can use a Facebook Tab, or post a widget on your own site. I only used the Landing page (URL) format.
I found the overall set up easy to follow. You can set your desired timeline for your giveaway or competition to run. You can also set it to local time. You can include any set directions or information regarding your competition or giveaway. You can also add images as well.
I found that setting up the social shares was simple. Being that I have the free plan I can pick from a set list of sites. It gives you the basics such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube etc. If you happen to click on a site that isn’t available under the free account plan a pop up notifies you. You can also add bonus entry choice so you can add what you’d like.
Once you have everything set up you have a few options on how to promote it as I shared in the image above. The basic landing page gives you a URL you can share. This takes anyone to your landing page for your competition or giveaway. For example, if you are having a YouTube giveaway you can link your giveaway directly to your video and paste the landing page info there. The same goes for Instagram or other sites.
I liked how you can keep track of all the entries as well. You can also pick a winner at random. During my last giveaway, i had to rule out any giveaway profiles so I was able to select a winner after a few tries. If a person enters using Twitter or Instagram as a login you can view their screen names and view their pages.
I will say that the Free account can be limited in terms of not having full information when people enter using an email address you see stars or asterisks instead of a person name or email address.
Here’s an example.
To me, that’s not really a big deal because after you pick a winner their info is displayed so you can contact them.
All in all, I was very happy with Gleam and it’s layout.
If I have time I might share a competition walkthrough so I can so you all how it works when setting up a giveaway.
Have any of you used Gleam? If so how did you like it?
