Glasses:My adventure finding a new pair

 Well as many of you may know I wear glasses. That being said I had my current pair for nearly three years so I knew it was time to have a checkup along with a new pair of glasses.  

 So I made my appointment at my local LensCrafters. Let add that I am not being paid for this post. I am just a long-term Lenscrafters customer.

I don’t know about anyone else who is a glasses wearer but to me having to pick out new frames is such a chore. I have a high prescription so I know I have a limited choice option. For the last few years, I’d opted for the wireframes. I liked them because they fit my overall style. 

My appointment was set for the week before Thanksgiving. Like usual I arrived early. I had also made an appointment for my dad too so I had time to browse while he was having his exam. 

Browsing Frames

Getting back to finding frames. As I mentioned before I had time to check out a variety of frames while I waited for my appointment. 

The Selection

I took a few pictures of frames I debated trying on. 

I tried on a few of these. But none looked very good on me. 

I will admit I’ve been trying to avoid plastic frames for years because I wore them so much when I was younger. The color options were also a bit limited in m opinion. 

Trying on Frames

Here are a few pictures I took of me trying out various styles.

I liked these wireframes but I thought they were a bit think. Again since I have a high prescription I have a limited option of choices. 

These reminded me of reading glasses or of the talk show host Sally Jessie Raphel. They were sort of a purplish red. I was trying to stand under the light when I took the picture. 

Now with these, I thought of the 1950′s. They were cute but they were a bit large for my face. A few minutes after I tried on this pair I was called in to have my eye exam.

My Eye Exam

My appointment went well they did the visual testing. Such as tracing, checking your blood and ey pressures. I will suggest if you can afford it to have the Optomap done. This is an additional test that takes a photo of your retina. It allows the Optometrist or Ophthalmologist (Whichever is one staff) to have a better view of your overall eye health. I had it done and I was happy I did the optometrist said my retina and optic nerve looked good.

Once again this may not be available at all locations and there is an additional fee for this service as well.

Following my exam, i went back out and did a quick browse once again and finally picked out a frame I was happy with. Well with the help of my dad and the eye care tech we found one that met my needs. 

The final choice

Well, i picked up my glasses today and this was the pair I opted to go with. I would have liked them in green but I settled for what they had It’s a nice cobalt blue I think. As much as I fought going back to plastic frames here I am again. It will be something new and I can say they are colorful.
